winch cable?

is there a way to repair the end of the winch cable that connects to the drum. the end of mine rusted off%)

Don't know about that.....depends on how bad it's frayed at the end I suppose. Are you going to OCBR? If so, check out the OCBR Swap meet thread....I have one for sale that is almost brand new.

it's really not frayed, didn't notice you had a cable for sale. I will take it, mine has been repaired before at the hook end. See ya at OCBR Dale;)

Wrap the cable TIGHTLY with fine tie wire as close to the end as you can get and still have good cable. Cut the bad end off with a thin cutoff wheel, then have a new eyelet swaged on. The eyelet doesn't hold ANY of the winch load - it only keeps the cable in-place on the drum. You should never spool out the last ~6 wraps off the drum. Check the winch owner's manual.

LOL i don't have a manual, did look at them online though and really didn't find anything

I taped mine and cut it. Then went down to West Marine and had a new end swagged on. Bigger marinas should have the tool.
