Windshield cowl mount

I have restored/ replaced most of the sheet metal on my "71". From the firewall back I have everything welded. The new core support, inner fenders, kick panels, and wheel wells are all just tech screwed at this point. I saved the windshield for last to keep the body alignment solid. The cowl pieces on my truck seem to be ok, there were small rust areas on the ends that I fabbed and welded. My question is whether it is possible to only replace the windshield cowl mount by drilling out the rear cowl spot welds and the tops of the door posts and sliding the new windshield cowl mount underneeth, and then rewelding these pieces? If any one has done this any advice/pics would be helpful. Thanks

Bump. Any help? I'm trying to get an order placed with Jeff's BGY for drivetrain parts at 10% off, but this deal is only for a couple more days. If I can replace this part without totally destroying the whole cowl I would like to get this part in my order. Otherwise I will likely find another way to repair the rusted area, where water got under my hinge, using old bronco parts that I have available. If someone knows this can't be done please let me know this also. Searches have revealed only total cowl replacements, as near as I can tell, but most off mine is still good. Thanks.
