No fuse usually, because you don't want a small glitch killing your running engine at an inopportune moment.

The factory wire is a resistor wire, so is that what you want?
Nobody I know makes a pre-made one, and some years are 1-piece while others have the resistor wire connected with plugs.

What type of ignition? Standard would be fine with 16 to 18 gauge most likely, where an aftermarket one where you might run other components from the same wire would be well served with 14ga.
If stock components will be used, you'd still want a resistor wire built in or use a separate ballast resistor. With a separate unit, that 14ga would be perfect, whereas a resistor wire is done by making it super small so it heats up during use. I'm betting it's something like 26ga wire. If that's even an available thing!

A resistor wire's heat can be an issue, so some sort of high-temp insulating jacket would be called for to keep the surrounding wires happy.
A ballast resistor still gets hot, but it can be mounted in such a way as to be away from sensitive stuff.

So what happened to yours? Resistor section burn out under the dash? Something fry under the hood? Using aftermarket components? Something else?

Hope you find what you need.

I was running an HEI and it crapped out. I switch to pertronix now the wire is too short to reach the coil.

Yep. You definitely want to bypass the original resistor wire then, at least for the Pertronix unit. If you're still utilizing a stock coil, you need the original wire to go to the coil's positive terminal, and another one with a full 12v (no resistor in other words) to power the Ignitor's Red wire in the distributor.
