Wiring rear gas tank using aux tank connector

I assume I can cut off the connector to the side aux tank and use it on the rear tank? It looks like the same size but how do I know which pin is for which side? Is the two prong connector polartity sensitive?

The connector will only go on one way. It is grooved so it can only fully seat in the correct orientation.
