I believe that product is basically phosphoric acid.. turns iron oxide (rust) into iron phosphate, a black "coating" on the metal. I've used a few variants (including diluted phosphoric acid) and it does work pretty well. Beware that if it gets on to your concrete garage floor, it will stain it and the stain is there to stay.

Ive used it on a limited basis, and its worked pretty well. Way better than i thought it would! As long as all the scale is gone and the surface is clean when you use it, its pretty much a permanent solution.

Anyone use it? results?

When I painted my Bronco I used it on all the sheet metal before I epoxy primed the panels. I wore rubber gloved and used a scrubby type sponge with the blue scrubby face. I used it straight until the moisture on the fender would sheen rather than bead up. This told me the surface was actually clean. Then I washed it off with a sponge and soap and water. I then wiped the panels dry with a towel and let it dry overnight before epoxy priming the panels. It worked well and dirt cheap. It will not remove or convert heavy rust. It will eat your clothes if you are sloppy. It been over 2 years since I painted my Bronco and I have had no issues. I used it over applied Bondo and old paint while treating the steel. I epoxy primed everything.
It was my last ditch effort to get everything clean before laying down the epoxy primer. The stuff is a savior for me since my touch easily rusts anything I touch 3 times worse than the average person.

Good stuff, there is a local online aution my dad frequents and there is a lot with 5, 1 gallon jugs in it that will likely go for 30-40 bucks.
