turn signals stopped working; more info still not workin

I am having the exact same problem in my '69. I'm interested to see how this plays out. PO wired a CD changer and an auxiliary heater into the same circuit as the signals on my rig. I'm constantly blowing the 14A fuse - is it safe to drop a 20A into the same space? Also - quirky - but stereo...

    Turn Signal on the Fritz

Guys, The turn signals on my 69 have quit working. The hazard lights work when the knob is pulled. I've replaced the 20amp fuse that the blinkers run on (this fuse trips quite often, which is a whole other issue), and I've replaced the blinker assembly under the dash. The signal arm doesn't...

Cooked my starter - need a new one.

I'm sure that is the right one. I just replaced mine, purchased from Napa. I'm at my office right now, so don't have the documentation with me, but Napa does offer the correct one.

    Broken - UPDATED

UPDATE: Picked the truck up from the mechanic. It's worse than I had thought. I limped it home and had a look at it with my brother. Pressing on the clutch drives the crank so far through the block that the pulley assembly on the front almost hits the fan assembly. This motor is shot! I took it...

Mustangtoby - the throwout bearing was shot, hence the clutch being replaced. No slippage or chatter. I do feel like he thinks I'm a walking checkbook.

    Broken - UPDATED

Wyflyer - It was running fine. He had everything pulled apart and he gave me a call to come to the shop, saying he found something that I should look at. He showed me the endplay on the crank, which, even to my novice eye, looked like too much. I told him to put it back together, that I...

    Broken - UPDATED

You guys always make a guy feel better. The thing that irks me the most is that the mechanic is my brothers wifes dad. I figured 20 hours seemed outrageous, but just wanted to be sure. I'm mechanically knowledgeable, but I wouldn't trust myself to pull and place a motor. Plus, I don't have an...

keep in mind that I am working under the assumption that the block on my existing 302 is boned if there is as much endplay on the crank as there is.

    Broken - UPDATED

I posted last week about having the clutch replaced in my bronco, and the mechanic finding some pretty serious endplay on the crank. Figuring that it wasn't the end of the world, and after some advice from the members on this forum, I had the mechanic put it back together so I could drive it til...

    Crankshaft End-Play

Thank you for the peace of mind guys. I've put a few feelers out for a 351 that I can get started on while I keep driving the sloppy 302. You're a great bunch of guys, and I'm glad to have this resource for when things go wrong.

    Crankshaft End-Play

Not sure what else besides a fouled thrust bearing would let the crank move fore/aft. The 302 doesn't owe me anything, so I'll put it back together and keep my eyes open for 351 that I can build up. Any year better than another for the 351W with EFI?

    Crankshaft End-Play

Follow up: I already have a raised cowl hood, so the clearance on a 351 is not an issue.

    Crankshaft End-Play

Hey guys, Had my 69 Bronco in for some clutch work today (throwout bearing shot), and after dropping the parts, the mechanic found I've got about .125" of endplay on the crankshaft. The top end sounds fine, compression on all cylinders etc. I had him stop the work so I could decide which...

    Clutch "Whooosh"

Thanks guys. I'll drop it by the shop tomorrow and have them take a look. I'll post back with the verdict.

    Clutch "Whooosh"

My clutch has started making a strange sound. When the clutch pedal is depressed the clutch makes an audible "whoooshing" sound. The transmission shifts freely and smoothly between the gears, and there is no chatter. I'm running the original 302 mated to the 3spd column. Am I making a...

    Power Steering Pressure Hose

The problem was that I didn't know which pump I was running - the power steering unit has been on this truck far longer than I've had it. I narrowed it down to the EB pump, and ordered the 70986 part from Piston Ring. Thanks guys!

    Odd Speedometer

Picked up some graphite lube from the local get everything store. I'll give it a hit tomorrow after I get my PS back together and see how it works. Thanks for the advice guys.

    Power Steering Pressure Hose

Cheaper than a $40 hose? Your hydraulic shop rates must be cheaper than here. Either way - at least I know the parts will fit. Thanks Steve.
