Ok ok, I know there are quite a few of these going on right now, but I'll share my experience. Feel free to offer up any advice or request photos of anything specific.
Feel free to check out my 73 Build Thread to get up to speed on the project.
I just took delivery of the entire powertrain from Van at Tumblin Automotive. For the record he is a GREAT resource. Answered all of my questions along the way and continues to be responsive even after the powertrain showed up.
I decided to go with a 14 F150 5.0 with the 6R80 and our original Dana 20. At first I was going to piece meal it all together, but Van made us an offer on EVERYTHING that we couldn't refuse, he even arranged delivery to the residential garage I'm working in! The idea was to hoist it out of the truck and drop it right in my already prepped rolling chassis. Van took the liberty of swapping out the timing cover and installed their serpentine system, motor mounts, headers, etc, etc. The powertrain dropped RIGHT in.
However, there are a few clearance issues that we didn't discuss. The A/C compressor is about 1/8" off of the right side crossmember gusset (see pic). Also, in order to clear the oil filter the driver side gusset is supposed to be moved. Unfortunately that info got skipped over amongst all of the communication between Van and I. No biggie though, that's just the nature of the BEAST.
I'm going to try to keep the parts list updated as best I can, but most everything that I have so far came from Tumblin in one delivery. I highly recommend giving Van a shout. PM me for his contact info!
