Ok ok, I know there are quite a few of these going on right now, but I'll share my experience. Feel free to offer up any advice or request photos of anything specific.

Feel free to check out my 73 Build Thread to get up to speed on the project.

I just took delivery of the entire powertrain from Van at Tumblin Automotive. For the record he is a GREAT resource. Answered all of my questions along the way and continues to be responsive even after the powertrain showed up.

I decided to go with a 14 F150 5.0 with the 6R80 and our original Dana 20. At first I was going to piece meal it all together, but Van made us an offer on EVERYTHING that we couldn't refuse, he even arranged delivery to the residential garage I'm working in! The idea was to hoist it out of the truck and drop it right in my already prepped rolling chassis. Van took the liberty of swapping out the timing cover and installed their serpentine system, motor mounts, headers, etc, etc. The powertrain dropped RIGHT in.

However, there are a few clearance issues that we didn't discuss. The A/C compressor is about 1/8" off of the right side crossmember gusset (see pic). Also, in order to clear the oil filter the driver side gusset is supposed to be moved. Unfortunately that info got skipped over amongst all of the communication between Van and I. No biggie though, that's just the nature of the BEAST.

I'm going to try to keep the parts list updated as best I can, but most everything that I have so far came from Tumblin in one delivery. I highly recommend giving Van a shout. PM me for his contact info!

A/C Compressor Clearance: No modification. According to Van I just need to trim the gusset. Not going to be running A/C at first, but need to have the provisions for down the road.

Right Side Header/Starter Clearance: When lowering the powertrain in, the only concern I really had was the Starter hitting the frame. After moving things around and taking it slow it seems like everything clears (the rubber cap slightly rubs). Everything has to come out again anyways so I will probably be swapping it out for a smaller unit for good measure. Headers seem to be in a good spot to build the exhaust from.

Need to spend some time stripping the engine down to clean everything up. Any suggestions on how to keep from messing anything up?

Keep in mind this is my entry into fuel injection and really have no idea what I'm doing  But typically that's how I always start a project haha.

What type of Body lift are you doing to do? The body lift has a part puzzle.
Van is the best!!!

Turns out with Tumblin's kit you're supposed to completely move the left gusset to the front of the cross member in order to clear the oil filter. I guess I'll be running a relocation kit. Anyone know if this one will work?

Here are a couple shots after stripping off all of the wiring and Tumblin's drive belt system. Big thanks to Van for installing the new timing cover before delivering the powertrain.

Getting ready to dive in to a Coyote Swap, investigating piecing together vs. having engine/trans unit assembled prior to receiving. Would you please share Van's company/contact info.? Looks like this thread is quite old, would love to hear the results? Happy with the F150 or wish you would of gone another direction ie. mustang engine etc.

Looks good! I wouldn't mind doing a Coyote but It is too expensive for my blood right now! I don't honestly know if the juice is worth the squeeze other than to say you have a Coyote. I mean you can get similar power from a 302 and it fits in the engine bay much better and the fuel econnomy is probably pretty close. It is a sweet motor though! its looking good though. Keep it up!

Thanks for detailing your Coyote swap.

I just bought a 1976 Bronco rolling chassis and I want to do the same thing you did to the powertrain.

Thanks for the encouragement.
