Ultimate Luber Build

I am getting ready to start my 1967 Luber Build. I have owned several Early Bronco's, and have always wanted to build a real nice sleeper/luber. I will post pictures as often as possible. Over the last year I have aquired most of the parts and now it is time to get to work. I know this should be a good challenge, but I hope it pays off in the end. Here is a list of the parts that will be put to good use.

408 Windsor with Trickflow High Port Heads
765R4 built by Bowtie Overdrives (I am ashamed. LOL)
Atlas 3.8
Currie Ford 9" with 4.57 gear,40 spline, and spool
77' EB Dana 44 with ARB, 4.56
Fox Coilover/Bypass in the front
Deaver 2.5" leafs with Fox Bypass in the rear
Custom 16" Vintage beadlocks built by Stockton Wheel
255/85/16 BFG KM2's about 33.5"

Axles

Got the axles back from powder coating. Put the rear leafs on and 3.5" coils for mock up. I am getting excited now. Should have my wheels in the next couple weeks.

Seems like a sweet build. From the peanut gallery, I'm curious why you opted for those massive 40-spline axles versus 35's which would still typically be considered overkill, even on a hardcore rock crawler? Seems like you gained a bunch of strength you'll never be able to use and limited your locker choices to basically a spool. Do the plans include RCV shafts for the front D44?

I actually picked the rearend up for a great deal, not knowing that I would be limited to a spool. I like the feel of a spool in the dirt, but the on road performance is less then desirable. As far as using the strength goes, I will give my best effort, but I am fairly sure I won't be breaking this rearend. As far as the 44, I purchased some chromoly shafts from JBG and I am running 1350 yokes all around.

They are a custom application only as far as I know. Currie welded the brackets on the housing for me. Here is a picture up close.

This is the last Ford I had with a full floater 35 spline 9". I broke two axles at different times. I am hoping with the 40 spline, I will never have to worry about breakage.

Unfortunately no, not with my forty spline axle. If you have a standard 9", Wilwood makes the same brakes with an e-brake.

Axle Weights

Does anyone know the front and rear axle weights for a Bronco with a 351W and a family cage? I know this is a broad question for so many different options in bumpers, seats, ect. I am just trying to get front and rear weights so I can order my coilovers and shocks. I need to figure out a good spring weight and valving on the shocks. Thanks
