So, first let me say that I want to thank Jimmy (JGBronc) for the thoughtful post https://classicbroncos.com/forums/threads/fellow-member-in-need-of-prayers-updated-2-9.314206/
last week regarding my medical emergency and ongoing condition. Jimmy, you have always been a great guy and friend to many here on CB.com, but to me you were especially kind!

So, here is an update from the horse's mouth:
In the last 10 days, I have been to the ER twice, admitted to the hospital and kept in an isolation room on the ICU floor for five days with a bloodstream infection that turned to an abscess. And on top of all that, I contracted a serious germ (MRSA) and couldn't be near anyone. The nurses and doctors had to suit up to come in and treat me. Too say the least, I’ve been in a tight spot. When they asked about a living will directive and asked if I wanted to talk to minister, I became really concerned. With the grace of God and friends like all of you pulling for me, I am well on the road to recovery! I got home a couple of nights ago and am resting. Things look good from here out so I am truly thankful. My father died from a similar bloodstream infection from a cut that turned septic and I was terrified mine would lead to his fate. He was only a few years older than I am and left too early in my opinion.

Needless to say, I had a lot of time to think about life, family and of course Broncos. As I recover, can’t wait to work on mine. I don't have a drivable one right now (I am close as I just have a few items to tackle) but hope to soon. I may come to Super Celebration Bronco-less, but I will be there as it is one of my favorite places to be as I get to see so many of you and tons of EBs!

If you want to see photos (I didn't want to post without asking as they are a little scary), I would love to post how a pimple/little bump on my neck turned into a life-threatening situation..... seriously, just ask and I will post ;)

Thank you again to each of you for your well wishes and prayers! God is good!

Mac

Welcome back Mac! And yes even though it might be a little gruesome to some, I think you should share what you went through with us anyway. It might help someone in the future if they see something similar on their own body.

Good idea! Sorry if this grosses anyone out (especially photos that contain my face) 😀

So the first photos is me the day I noticed a painful little bump in my neck. The following photos show the rapid progression (from bump to MRSA abscess mass in 48 hours). The great thing is even though my infection is gone, I get to wear the mass for a while longer!

I'm really glad to hear that you are doing better. I have had friends who have gotten MRSA and it really gave them a new perspective on life.

I guess I will be the first to say - I'd be interested in learning more about the details, gory or not. It's an important lesson for everyone because we have all overlooked the simple injuries...

Absolutely great news that you are doing better! Amen ! I would have been among those who assumed I had a spider bite until I was in serious trouble.

^^^ this....right there with you on ignoring - and this serves as quite the psa. That quickly turned into an angry mess. Those pics may very well help another head off a serious infection.

The good Lord was watching above! Glad you are on the road to recovery. I have a few questions.
1. Was it a painful bump?
2. Did it go from 0-100 that quick?
3. What made you go get it checked out?

Had it been me, I would have tried to pop that thing a 1000 times.
