"Binco" Build (slowest build ever...)

Well, after owning the latest truck for about a year and a half I figured it was time to start a thread on it.

"Binco" comes from my daughter's nickname for the truck when she always asks if we can take the "Binco" when we're going places.

I bought the truck in August 2011 from Nevada and it had a frame-off in the late 90s. The truck had about 8,000 miles on the build when I bought it and an estimated 64k original miles(?) on it. It's a 1974 and was virtually all stock except for the NWMP 23 gallon gas tank and double shocks all the way around.

Took a risk and bought her sight unseen from Nevada.

Here's some pics of the frame-off from the late 90s.

As she was when I bought her...

Here's some pictures of as she was when I bought her...

I swapped the original buckets for a front bench because I've got 3 kiddos and needed to fit them all...

I plan on running a soft top quite a bit so a cage was a must have with the family. Landed on a BroncoBob.com cage (Very happy with it). I paid $100 extra to get the trimmed and tacked version. It was then broken back down to save on shipping.

Here's the Cage thread:
Cage Install

Also rigged a hardtop hoist system in the garage and installed the Spice Rampage Top from Bronco Graveyard. Don't drill the B Pillar!!!
Soft Top Install

The plan is for the truck to be a reliable cruiser. I work from home so I've put less than 3k miles on her since I've owned her.

Truck will remain uncut, probably stock height for now. I'm contemplating a disk brake swap soon.

Thanks guys...yeah it's a pretty unique truck too. How many can say their frame is White?

Wasn't real sure about that at first, I'd prefer black but makes it easy to spot problem areas underneath!

Looks like I've got a busy weekend ahead of me! Ordered the Bronco Graveyard front disk kit with prop valve, bearings and stainless lines.

New warn premium hubs (Amazon has them for $103 shipped free).

UPS had fun with one of the hub assemblies so JBG is shipping me a replacement one.

I'm sure I'll have lots of questions once I break into this. Been reading a lot on it and watching Youtube's.

Made some great progress on the Disk conversion from JBG today. Got the knuckles ground, Spindles installed, new bearings packed and installed, hubs and rotors installed. Still need to install the new Warn Premium hubs, run the new stainless brake lines, and proportioning valve. Will probably have more questions once I get to the plumbing and bleeding of the system.

Pretty happy with the way it’s coming together. Two learnings from today:

1. Spring retainer is not needed with the Warn premium hubs, only for the Stock hubs that use the spring. (Thanks for the reply on the other thread guys!)

2. I did a good job making sure the pins were on the inner spindle nut, however forgot to check that the pin was facing out on one and managed to shear off the pin. Stopping to get a new spindle nut tomorrow with the pin.

Also, if it helps others I came across a diagram that helps with which way the spindle gaskets should face. I’ve attached this along with some of the other pics of progress.

Not sure if this guy is on here but his YouTube series on this install is awesome!

New Warn hubs installed and calipers mounted. Still need to install proportioning valve and plumb it up.

Then bleed it and should be ready to go...

That's a nice rig and the Alcoas look good on it. Don't worry, unless you are counting the original build you are a long way from the slowest build ever. I have one I bought from Glenn Lee myself about 7 years ago that I haven't got done yet. Based on that you're at least 4 times faster than I am.

Rbodine: Used to live in an apartment on franklin road in Marietta during the late eighties. During the summer, I'd be at the apartment pool, and about five to ten minutes before the hour, the pool would empty. About ten minutes after the hour, there would be a bunch of folks at the pool again. This happened over and over, so I finally asked one of the folks who would disappear what was up. He said they were all Life chiropractic students and they had to make role call!

Great looking EB, by the way g8rb8t...

Jeff
