Mounted my wheels and tires on the frame today. Waiting to get the explorer engine back from the engine shop. Are there any recommended upgrades for the internals of a 4r70w?

I'm a manual transmission guy but while looking into the Explorer 5.0L ran across mentions of a thing called J-Mod.
The original lead designer on that trans. at Ford came up with it to correct what he felt were deficiencies in it.
Said to be far better than any "kit".
There are supposed to be differences between car and truck valve bodies and I don't know where the Explorer fits into that.

Probably the best member here to ask would be Viperwolf1.

Well I haven't posted in a few months but that doesn't mean work on the Bronco hasn't been taking place. After getting the Explorer rebuilt and stroked to 347 I finally got it back and to paint. This last week Ive been working on getting it back together and attached to the freshly built 4r70w. A lot of brake cleaner and wire wheel on the die grinder and parts started looking new again. Finished them off with some gloss black.

Last night I got the BC headers installed. Drivers side was kinda challenging but the passenger side was a breeze. Here some clearance pics. I have the full exhaust system but waiting on relocating the crossmember back for the Advanced Adapter housing.

I know Ill need to shorten the coil pack bracket but wanted to wait to see it with the body on first. The threaded oil filter part will fit in the block piece but will it be too long for the filter or tighten it all up and put it back in the block and call it a day?

Love the build so far! Great job and the deleting the seams in the body is something that I plan on doing in the future as well. Looks great and can't wait to see some more progress and what you do on the inside! ;D

Before you start plumbing the brakes I would move that pressure differential valve up by the master cylinder instead of cooking it there with the headers. Once the heat cooks it moving it will be a real pain in the AS*. People have had better luck with them in a cooler location by the master cylinder.

Everything's looking good.

What are the build specs on your motor? Will the factory tune work with the stroker?

EFI Guy said there shouldn't be anything wrong with the stroker. He was more concerned about my choice of cam. I don't remember exactly the one I got but I can find it if you want me to. Its very mild and nothing too crazy. The stroker was a SCAT 347 kit. I can't find my receipts right now but I can get them for you for part numbers if you need.

Also to update I have my exhaust and muffler installed. I went with the Aeromotive Phantom Fuel pump and having the center section of my BC tank cut out so the fuel pump can be recessed in the tank. Ill get some updated pictures shortly.
