Looking at a 66...can you shed some light on this? It's so different than the later VIN's. I get the Half cab heavy duty, but I don't see how to figure out the rest of it. Motor???

Thanks in advance,
Tyler

There is carpet covering the kick panel and hiding the VIN. It's in the upper left corner. The 4th character will give the engine code.

Looks like a jagged cut that doesn't expose all the data tag. I can see it's a U14 half cab with the heavy duty package and a few other things. 4.11 posi.

It has a v8 in it, and I'm curious if it's an original v8. The guy is super nice and forthcoming. He's going to see if he can expose more of the tag and check to see what the frame VIN is.

Hi, my 66 Vin tag was holding on by rust and luckily I got it before it disappeared. It is in the box with the registration and other titles and I'll look at it tomorrow. I'll probably post a picture of it for you. Good luck

That pic is very helpful. I can now see how the full vin is cropped by he carpet.

just a guess ......Maybe a military or POST OFFICE rig...Reason for the special order status..
.. I had a Cousin that ha one years ago & He swore it was a 1965..
Because he bought it way back in early 65.

First two digits of the DSO would have been 83 if it were for government use.
