The new Bronco was pretty impressive. Still smelled like a new car inside and watching them cruise through the woops with the windows up and the AC on was awesome.
Old and new at the Horsepower Ranch at the end of the race.

Nice pics, Mark! Pretty good validation that the Badlands with 33" tires is a pretty awesome setup.

This Ford media piece gives a few details:

https://media.ford.com/content/ford.../30/bronco-four-door-norra-mexican-1000-.html

I've seen numerous pics online of it on social media. Mark can confirm but apparently it truly is a stock 4 door Badlands with an added cage and Recaro seats in it for safety. Dash area looks stock. They had some traction boards mounted behind the seats along with some Pelican cases full of gear, and that was about it. Maybe a fuel cell? Really, all in all - a very stock vehicle. I'm not sure who built it but I have a hunch. Will ask tomorrow.

I didn’t get too nosey as the driver George Herman and navigator were swamped with people asking questions. Which they answered with good grace and a friendly spirit. From what I could tell it was a stock rig aside from cage and seats. And a very cool satellite tracking device. No fuel cell that I could see. Fast enough we couldn’t catch them on the dry lake though I was able to pass them in one of the rutted up washes.

I can confirm it was almost 100% stock. The things that were not stock were added as safety requirements for the race, communication and navigation. Nothing was customized on the bronco as far as drivetrain, suspension or even the interior besides the cage and race seats.

I was told by multiple people on the crew that it was built, delivered to the San Diego area to get the safety gear installed. A few hours of testing and then they drove it to Mexico, raced it, then drove it back to the US.

They did run the A/C almost the entire time... so they cheated :)
