I have been driving by this Bronco for quite some time, and I finally went out to ask the guy if its for sale.
Some notes: Its a '72, 302, shifter on the floor.
He said he "got it running" but it doesn't run.
What would be a reasonable price to pay for a bronco in this condition?

Well, pretty much nothing on there that doesn't need to be touched. In today's stupid market, someone would pay 12 grand for that at auction, but it's just a $2500 truck to me. Max.
Reason is that is that there are still deals out there where you can pay from $500 to $1500 for a runner (with rust issues, but workable) and yet there are those out there that would jump all over themselves to buy that one for $7500 or more.

But nothing on that one doesn't need to be addressed. The rear axle pinion angle is completely wrong, the driver's side rear spring looks like there's a gap between it and the lift block (not a great idea anyway, but not a deal breaker) unless that's an improperly used shim and I just can't see it.
The engine is of unkown running character.
Some of the sheet metal is hacked for the front dual shocks. And those shocks look OLD and would all need to be replaced for a driver.
Lots of things in workable shape, that would need to be replaced in a restoration to driver status.

So I still say, unless the guy is just adamant that he wants today's pricing, or it's a particularly interesting model that you've always wanted, I still say $2500 and no more.
And it pains me even to say that about one in that condition. But I'm fully aware what some are getting these days for the same thing too.

Good luck. Hope you get it for $1500 and use the savings to bring it back to life. Doesn't have as far to go as many. But still a bit of a trip to get there.

Where are you located?
(some places that's a lot of rust, some places that's almost what they would call rust-free)

Has he given you his starting price?

Check out Craigslist in MN. Some clown is asking that and more for ones without axles and God knows what not. I'd say 2500 max for that one. Really should have a running engine. The market is getting insane.

In north fla I found one that was a 72 with power steering and power brakes auto with a 302 that was running but hadn't been started in a year or so and he only started it about once a year for the last 8 years. It had less rust issues and was stock running gear and uncut fenders. Other than that was about the same general condition as this one. I offered him 4500.00 which I thought was very fair. He said he wouldn't take less than 7000.00 since he had the origional owners manual and dealer sticker..
I agree with Dirtdonk with the 2500.00 price or maybe up to 3500.00 depending on the regional adjustment.
Good luck with this

In michigan I'd pay 7k for that florida vehicle because once you factor in shipping to Michigan from FL your spending about the same

I'm in north Carolina, Fayetteville. The Bronco is located in Dunn, NC.
I made a general comment of 3500, cash, but noted that engine isn't running. He didn't seem impressed, I think he is gunning for 7k for the Bronco.
PM me if you're interested in more info.
