removing rear posts on hard top

I can't see the purpose of the rear posts on my hard top other than making it much more difficult to remove. SO......I am considering plugging in the saw-zaw tonight and performing a nip-tuck to remove them.

Anyone have a reason to keep them as they are?

The rear post that fit down inside the bed are what gives the rear of the top lateral support. It keeps the liftgate opening square. I would leave them in. It's just another 8 bolts.

Mine were rusted out. I'll buy yours from you if they are solid and not cut in half;)
