sloppy power steering

the steering on my bronco is loose and there is a lot of play. would a power steering gear box rebuild help this or is there something else I can try first?

the box is not leaking or anything like that.

Have somebody move the steering wheel back and forth while you look for slop in the linkage. Check the shafts from the firewall to the box. Then check the links from the box out to the knuckles. Also track bar bushings like said above.
