So Cal
I removed mine because I got a 4 speed floor shifter (converted from 3 on tree) and its got a long rod extension.

When I shifted into first, my knuckles would hit the dash pad.

So I removed it and burned it in a fire pit.

Damnation! That pad burned up in flames like napalm, dripping for an hour in high flames.

I still have the soot covered metal piece in my yard.

66-67 dash pad looks the most finished off.

Either way is fine but what you really need is a speaker grill cover to cover up the ugly dash speaker slot cut outs! I don't have an AM speaker in my 72 and without the speaker there I can see all the way through to my firewall. Anyone who gets into my truck asked me, "what goes there or is that a heater vent?"%) So, I got sick of the dumb question all the time. I used the idea of the 66 factory option speaker grill cover idea but for the 68-77 Broncos. I think it looks better then empty holes.

So I installed the dashpad yesterday, and have to admit, I'm really glad I did. I think it looks a lot better than I thought it would. That, and it makes my Dad happy, which is worth it just for that. A few pics.

No Dash Pad For Me.....................think it looks better without.

Is that a modified original dash, or custom panel? It looks nice too. Like I said, I didn't think I would like the dashpad as I was so used to it without, but now that it's on, I really do like it.

I took those pics with my phone. The other pictures I have are BMP files, which would not upload. I'll try to remember to take a few more pics this weekend.

Nevermind, converted them so they should work now. These were taken a few years ago when I finished most of the project.

Think sudden stops. Your face is going into the steering wheel buy your passenger might appreciate the padded comfort. ;D

I think they look better with the pad than bare.
