stopped at the grocery store yesterday afternoon, just as i was getting back into the bronco to leave, a lady walked by and said, ' hey that's a very nice jeep '. i jokingly said ' lady read the tailgate ', she replied ' yes i know a ford jeep '.
i kept my mouth shut and slowly drove off into the sunset, knowing i could not win.

Don't feel bad, the lady who works at Chevron in town always comments on my, "Scout". Some of my co-workers have now started to send me pictures of Jeeps, Scouts, and Land Cruisers with the title "BRONCO!"

They may call it what they want but they like what they see! I've had them call it everything but if it's a person over 60yrs old I don't argue with them I just go with it but if it's a young punk I will line him out on what a BRONCO is! The parts guys I will line them out or piss them off one.

I was at the tractor supply a few months ago in mine and this Scout expert came out and told me how much he loved my scout and that he had several of them over the years. He asked me what year it was and by then I was laughing so hard inside I said you should be able to tell. I told him I had doen a lot of body mods and that the turn signals were from a 68, the fuel door from 91 toy truck, rock skis, molded in fender flares, removed all the badging, and the roadster door, Even after he walked around back to look at the tailights to see what year it was, he didn't even notice the "FORD" on the tailgate. He was baffled and could not figure out what year the Scout was. He then asked what engine I had, so i opened the hood.

He then said WOW I didn't know Scouts were ever fuel injected. :) He actually didn't believe it was a ford bronco. Told me Ford never made a vehicle like this.

nice Ford Jeep. I had one yers ago before anybody cared. Ford put that script "F" on everything. Tailgate, bolt heads, it was everywhere. A lot of Willys Jeep parts will not intercange. Ford didn't want anybody to thing their Utility vehicle was a Jeep.

My mom calls it my Jalope. The other day she said there was one at her apartment complex. I thought "no way" I've never seen one there before. She kept mentioning it so I drove around the parking lot and sure enough, there it was... a nice shiney new Toyota FJ. ?:? I give up with her. %);D

Once at Napa the guy asks me what engine size, so I tell him 302. So he's looking in the book for a while and finally tells me
he doesn't show a 302. Says he shows a 305, 350, blah, blah. I said dude, those are chevy motors. He said "yeah, it's a Chevy Bronco, right?"
Everyone in the store just looked at him dumbfounded.

Back in the day...1971 I had a 62 scout with a 289. Had full and 1/2 cab. Style wise they look a lot alike, but the running gear was built for that 4 cyl,no more.

How funny, I had my first do you drive that faded blue Jeep with MTN MN on the licence plates from a lady at church today. At least it was a lady who knows very little about cars, if I get asked that by a guy I won't have as much compassion for him.

A close friend of the family keeps calling my Bronco's my "Jeeps." She always asks "Have you been working on your Jeep's lately?" I've stopped correcting her.

I wouldn't get snappy or hateful with people over it, I think most people just are not that into knowing their vehicles and call it the first thing it reminds them of. The only modern equivalent to a Bronco is a Jeep.

If you want to get irritated over it, blame Ford for not maintaining any product presence in the 4x4 market with the Bronco name. If they had people would be telling Jeep owners "Nice Bronco."
