BC Broncos EFI Throttle plate issues

Has any other member installed the BC Bronco's EFI throttle plate with the C4 transmission kickdown linkage?

The hole for the transmission linkage is flush with the inside wall, leaving no room for the nut on the inside.

BC Bronco's reply to this issue is that it's normal, and to stick it in at an angle, omit the washer, and tighten it from the outside. If I do this, there would be added stress to the threaded aluminum cable end, and the inner cable will rub on the side of the sheath where it exits.

See the location of the hole in the instructions vs the hole location in my pictures:

It doesn't look right to me.

it'll work. install it and see what it looks like.

I did, it looks hack, has no service adjustability, and doesn't seat properly. I'm guessing whoever makes the part didn't factor bend radius into the design. The hole starts in the outside radius of the part. Have you installed one? Perhaps you can share a photo?

I have one installed but I am running a 4r70w so I do not have the kick down cable to worry about but after looking at the install, I can see the problem.

Like others have said, you could either drill another hole next to it or egg it out a bit. I don't see why the cable would have to be exactly where it is versus 1/4" over.

I had the same problem but mine was not as close as that. The nut was jammed up right at the inside edge. Put the nut on the inside and there was not enough room to spin to tighten it. We held the nut on the inside and turned the cable fitting to tighten it.

I've done some modifications to my EGR spacer, do you or anyone have any clearer pictures of how this bolts together?

It seems the hole has gotten off a little. As I told you, return it and I will move the hole over a little. It will work as is and needs to be close to where it is because of the alignment. Do not drill a new hole as the cable will be off too much and cause the cable to wear a groove in the sheath. It seemed that you did not want to return it so I was trying to help you out. I have no problem if you want to return it and Duffs seems very anxious to sell you one. I don't want you feeling stuck with my product and that is all I can do. PS The drawing is a installion aid, it is not a picture nor intended to be an accurate drawing (QUOTE=brianstrange;2201546]Has any other member installed the BC Bronco's EFI throttle plate with the C4 transmission kickdown linkage?

Nice and easy for the customer
I designed my cable after installing the Lokar cable several years ago. What I didn't like about it was the tight bends to get the cable to snake around behind upper intake but mostly the diff. between the EB throttle and the Mustang throttle body makes the throttle more like a on/off switch. Did they fix that?

I found that problem when using an explorer throttle body with your kit. I also found a fix for it. http://classicbroncos.com/forums/showthread.php?t=156534

I read the thread when it was going on. Diff than mine but a good fix and anyway it needs to be done. I was disapointed that LoKar didn't address the problem, maybe they have by now. It's been about 10 years ago.

I do - I've just got it rotated out of the way so I don't have to see it ;D

Thanks for responding - my crappy auto parts store cable is falling apart fast. It doesn't help that I've used it on three builds, but I want to replace it with something a bit more sturdy in the future.

Although it looks like everyone runs their intakes the other way, the low gearing and torque moves my motor too much for my intake to be that close to the master cylinder. I've even bolted my motor mounts, but it could be the 76' 250 CS M/C causing part of the problem too...

Chuck, as I already told you. It's not worth the time and effort for me to send this back. It would be easier for me to fabricate / modify the bracket. I thought the part was defective, and figured you would want to know, and send a proper bracket. Apparently this part has been manufactured as designed. I see the pictures shown in the instructions and on the kickdown bracket page display the hole closer to the passengers side. I guess it is what it is.
