So i call Hagerty this morning to get my bronco towed to the shop. The dispatcher tells me that my account is inactive and to call back 30 minutes later when the home office can confirm i do have insurance..do what???

So 30 minutes later I call back and they confirm I have insurance. However, even though they say in all their literature less than a 1 hour service time the dispatcher advises it will be 90-120 minutes before the wrecker arrives. Im sitting here waiting and the 2 hour mark is closing in fast...figured id let everyone know my experience.

Good thing the bronco is at my house and not out on an interstate in the Mississippi summer heat...

Has anyone else had problems with Hagerty???
AAA is looking better and better..

2 1/2 hours still no wrecker...

Hagerty called to to say it will be another 25 minutes.

think hard before you buy their wrecker insurance. you could probably push your bronco faster.

I have the same service, have never had to use it though. I'll remember this if I have to use them. Didn't know they tow from the house just figured it was if you we're on the side of the road.

Insurance company will "Farm Out" the wrecker service in most cases. Up to the wrecker service not the insurance company. Pretty bold of Hagerty to say less than an hour though.

Haggarty rufused to insure my bronco because it was 4WD. No other reason, didnt care how I used it, didnt care about anything once they heard 71 Bronco they said NO!

So how did you get Haggarty insurance on your Bronco?

I have Hagerty on the bronco and have not needed towing. I also belong to the triple AAA and trust me, they are not in the buisness of setting land speed records for Wrecker calls!

The place of bronco
for next time see if your insurance will reimburse you. AAA basic only covers the first 10 miles. They do not up charge for a roll back. I have been lucky most of the time the arrive under an hour. I now have better towing coverage with my auto insurance. IIRC its 100 miles now.

I have had mine with them for 3 years, they never questioned it being a 4 wheel drive. I pay 179.00 a year and have it valved for more than I have in it.

Haggerty here too. Two Broncos to be exact. Both are historical meaning limited driving. I have yet to use the towing service. I work in the "car" bussiness and it is typical for a tow truck to take 2 hours or so to get there depending on where the truck is and the companys availablity. The haggery rep can only relay what the tow company tells them which is most likly a fib so they can get the call.....

Same here except ive only had my Bronco for 2 years. I pay 172.00 a year.
All they asked for was pictures which i sent. I dont have a Roll cage but the Ford Show Bar and i'm pretty sure they know the early Bronco was a 4X4

Hey,

I hope this doesn't derail the thread.

I have been with State Farm for about 20 years. 4-1/2 years ago we insured a Jeep Rubidon with them. I explained it would be used 80% off road, 20% on. No problems.

Two years later we buy the '71 Bronco. State Farm said they wouldn't insure it because it was used off-road and on-road. They said they could insure for one, but not both. We looked into USAA (through my wife), and they insured the Bronco with both uses, no problem. So, when we bought the '70, it was insured through them as well.

My old State Farm agent retired recently. I met with the new agent and we talked about all of our insurance. I mentioned the Broncos. He thought that was crazy. He talked about Range Rovers he had in the past. I made sure he understood how it would be used. He was perplexed about why State Farm wouldn't cover the Broncos.

One of the people in his office worked with me on a quote for our '71. It is insured as a classic because of its age, condition, and the limited miles we drive it every year. I don't know how insurance works; but, I figured I wanted the value to be listed on the high side. For $25,000 coverage, including collision and liability, the premium is $74.16 per half year.

I don't really get how all of this works. I guess I can only be honest about its use, and see what is offered. (For comparison the USAA policy was about $135 every 6 months, and it was based on the original value of the Bronco when new.)

It's all very confusing.

This thread makes me want to check to see if towing is included in the State Farm policy.

Jeff

rustbucket, im in the madison area.

advice: if you want them to tow your vehicle before you leave for work - set your alarm to call them no later than 3am.

I have Haggerty on my new to me '77 and as pretty much everything broke down on it in the first few months so have used their towing A LOT. To the point I am worried they will drop me as I am sure it cost about the same as my premiums for a decade. They have been awesome every single time. I even broke down on the side of a major highway through downtown (I-35 in Austin) and a motorcycle cop showed up and said they have a wrecker on call and that that one has to get me out of the way immediately so see where it dumps me and have my tow show up there. I call Haggerty and they made arrangements with the wrecker on call for the police to give me the full tow and have my insurance cover it. Awesome awesome service.
