I have a 75 that is keeps getting all scratched up in the door jam upon entry. My kidos especially have a problem when getting in and tend to make a mess of things. I have seen the ICON with the power step. Anyone know how they do it or have any suggestions for me. My rig is at a truck specialty shop and they asked me to query the forum as to any ideas or done this before. Thanks a bunch.

How about just putting "clear bra" on the door sills? That would protect the paint from you kids if they don't really need a step to help them get in.

Hey Bobby I'm about 45 minutes away from McAllen. What specialty shop do you have your rig at? I'm going to do a frame off and might need some help putting in my new motor, it's a secret motor I would not dare and mention here, LOL..As far as your problem, ever thought about that chip resistant clear coat some of the newer vehicles are coming out with?

Hey, I use a guy in combes texas... out in the middle of nowhere pretty much a one man show but he is a whiz. This guy fixed what no one else could. Do not go to BC Broncos as I know many folks from around here that have had problems including myself. They made a big expensive mess of my bronco. Order from them but do not take your rig there as the mechanics and service are terrible. As far as other stuff such as the power step I am having the guys from sound advice in harlingen do the work they are personal friends and good dudes. If you want to chat about local services call me 956-249-9433.

Thanks all. We got er rigged up the links provided were great we put the lower bolts through the double thickness portion of the rocker where the welds are and then again above that. Seems to hold well very firm. Thanks all for your help!

Bob, is the only reason you came on here is to bash me? We did great things to your EB including the new engine from ford and the replacement engine from ford after your mechanic jacked the timing and caused it to burn up. My mechanic rolled your EB and I am sorry about that but we did repair it to much better than when we got it. Again I am sorry Wes rolled it and I did what I could to fix it and make it right. You tipped both Wes and the painter after driving it around and looking very closely you seemed happy andf did not complain our work until now, 3 years later. You say you know many folks around here that have had problems, I don't think so but please send me a list of anyone that you know that is unhappy as I would like to know who and what.

Sort of, one of my mechanics was driving it without permission while texting and drive off the road, through a fence and onto its side. It cost me 10k to fix it and Wes did the labor but it is better than before as we did not use any bondo but new parts and some of the old parts were bondo'ed. While we were there we also fixed the rusted out rocker panels at cost of the parts. I feel bad that it happened but it did and I did what I could to make it right. Only Jason and I drive customer cars now.
The new Ford racing engine failed, over heated and when we got it back the timing was 32 degrees at idle, bob told me his mechanic had adjusted it. Ford replaced the engine and we did all the labor free. But whither the engine was over heated or not it was not because of anything I did.

I hate to get in on a bash thread, but this is just too much.

So you mean to tell me that you had a mechanic who takes off in a customer's rig without permission, texts while driving it, wrecks it, and you still let him work for you? And to top it all off, you willingly admit it on an open forum.....?:?

You wouldn't want him to lie about it would you? He manned up and admitted it. My hats off to him. Stuff happens and it sounds as though he done everything he could to make it right.

Of course he should tell the truth. Maybe I should have explained this better. It wasn't him telling the truth that I'm shocked about, its him still allowing that "mechanic" to work for him after these extremely neglectful events happened. I don't care how good he is, that would have been the nail in the coffin for me.

Yes, he says he made it right. That's great and fine, but are we supposed to take our rigs for them to work on when things like this happen and they get by with it? Even if he isn't allowed to drive anymore, if he is that negligent behind the wheel, just how is he when working on your Bronco?

This is just one more reason for me that confirms my option of BC Broncos. I've said it before, and I'll say it again they will never get another dime of my money. They definitely have a different way of doing business.

Just because his mechanic made a mistake doesn't necessarily mean he should fire him. I could see if he neglected a repair etc. and lied about it. You have to be careful carrying a pitchfork and torch for texters because he was texting and driving. Lots of people do it, and I'm pretty certain odds are that most who complain about it are guilty of the same deed themselves. I am certain he is paying his price for the neglect and damaging a customers vehicle. Sounds to me like Chuck did it right, repairing it etc. but I can certainly see the customers opinion as well. He trusted his vehicle to someone to take care of it and they betrayed that trust. That is not an easy pill to swallow wether it was corrected or not, the idea of it is still sour either way.

I don't mean to sound harsh, and don't want to sound like a jerk, but to me that is not a mistake. That is the results of carelessness. For example, If I had a customer base, and took one of my customer's vehicles out for a hardcore trail ride without his knowledge and dented it up is that a mistake?

I wish every business would cover their employees mistakes like Chuck did in this case. Thank goodness it's not mandatory to fire people who screw up, few of us would still be employed.
Wes does good work, he's worth keeping around.
Chuck, I have 2 Broncos I can leave with you for a test drive;)
