Junkyard Power Step

I want to add power steps to my nice bronco (not my trail rig) and was thinking about pulling a set from the junkyard to save a few bucks.
Has anyone done this yet?

I found several sets available qt junkyards near me that were on the nicer Expeditions and Navagators. From my limited research it looks like I can shorten the length to fit the bronco door width and make my own mounting bracket with some 3/16 plate steel.

Thoughts?

I've been thinking about used ones also. New ones are out of my budget. Definitely doable, but I haven't worked out the details yet.

The control circuit would be the hardest part. The vehicles you are looking to get them off of have that built in. You go into the display and get into setting and you can set the steps to up, down, or auto. There is feedback in the logic so if the steps are jammed with ice or mud it won't burn the motors out.

Amp research part number 75104-01A is used for the early bronco. This part number works on the above vehicles, you can get the control and the wiring from amp research.

JohnJohn, great idea. I have heard these also trim-able as well so even if they are "long" you can make then the length that you want.

Alright! I'll show this to my friend for his new Bronco project. We'll check the local parts yard after we finish installing the brake pads and toyo tires on the truck tomorrow.
