Amazed at how much attention these trucks get.

So I only drove the Bronco about 5 miles prior to tearing it down, so I am not use to this. The past year I have had it in pieces in the garage. I recently put the tub on to get the roll bar, seats, etc. all mocked up prior to paint. While at it I put the front fenders and grill on to help with door alignment. Well I guess all the neighbors and the guys building the new houses can now see what all the noise has been in the garage. Had the door open on the garage while doing some landscaping this weekend. I bet I had no less than two dozen cars stop at the end of my driveway and stare into the garage before continuing on. I hope a few of the guys in the neighborhood start pestering their wife about needing a project. I pestered mine for about two years before she finally said “just go buy a f**king old truck so you will shut up and stay off craigslist”.

They are definitely attention getters. I think the thing that will always surprise me is the number of women, who I'd guess have never been all that into cars who will stop me in a parking lot or at a red light and ask what the heck it is that I'm driving.

I live right across the street from a little league field, and have four EBs sitting on my driveway. Every spring, dads stand on my driveway after the games and just stare. If I'm out in the garage or yard while they do this, they'll always ask about them.

Conversation starters for sure.

I've got a Capital One Visa and you can personalize them. I put a pic of the Bronco on it and both me and my wife get asked a lot about it. It really baffels them in the drive thru, they look at the card then the Bronco ,then me,with a puzzled look.

I was just thinking the same thing Saturday afternoon. I cant go anywhere without someone wanting to talk to me about it. One 5 minute trip to the hardware store turned into an hour because 3 different people wanted to talk about my truck. I was out at the airport for a fly in with some friends Saturday and in addition to the normal compliments and stories from the past I had two no s**t cash on the spot offers. Both more than I paid. I was driving from one hangar to another and one guy ran me down in his golf cart because he thought I was leaving before he had a chance to ask if I'd sell it. My truck is a daily driver for now and it seems if I stop anywhere, even a red light, someone wants to talk. Hell, I've gotten to the point where if I don't get a thumbs up from at least one person on the way to or from work I'm disappointed! All of you long time Bronco guys may be used to it but I haven't got this much attention over my car since high school when my driver was a '65 Mustang. For the record the Bronco is getting a lot more attention than the car ever did.

I've only got a couple of months left before I get the green light then!!!!

Just wait until people start recognizing you without your bronco, stopping you in the grocery store when your bronco is miles away at home, wondering why you don't remember talking to them about your bronco two years ago.

Hi guys, been away all winter.

I have to respond to this post. I too am amazed how much attention our Broncos get. I actually had people come into my shop where I work in back as a small engine mechanic. The guys out front come and get me to talk to people asking about it. One time last year a dad asked if it was alright to take pictures of my stock '66. He said his daughter '' loves'' it. But yes, everywhere I stop people ask about it. And yes, all types of people from grandma to executives.

Drove mine to my daughters track meet last week. As I pulled into the high school you could see people looking and trying to figure out exactly what it was & got a couple of waves and thumbs up. Once I got to the stands the neighbor sat down next to me and said hey, there's a bunch of kids hanging out over by your Bronco. Had me a little concerned until he finished with - they were all getting their picture taken with it. Had to laugh, it was at a school way out in the farmland where they obviously appreciate trucks & 4x4's. My wife just rolls her eyes, she can't believe that people would chase us down at a stoplight just to talk about the Bronco.

I don't know what it is but I have more negative experiences than positive. Sure I get a few thumbs up on the road, and the TCU kids where I work love it, but the guys stopping me wanting to buy it just don't take no for an answer. I keep getting pestered by the same two guys in our own neighborhood about selling it to them. They won't take no for an answer. I've been told that the Bronco was wasted on me because I'm a girl. People assume I don't know what it's worth "No, I won't take 3K cash for it today." I'm sure I'll eventually have more positive comments but I dread it when people come up to me when I'm in it.

Sometimes you have to be real direct with those types. Begin by telling them you are sure you know far more about the vehicle, the modifications and restoration that you have done and that you don't really need their advice, comments or offers of 10% of what the vehicle is worth. Dismiss those types as harshly as you can and they will leave you alone, then enjoy the people who truly appreciate your ride and what you have done to it!

I've tried doing the harsh but politely firm and I've been called a b*tch (which I don't mind at all but I can't help but worry if I piss someone off they'll come back and key my car?) The second time I told a set of guys their I wasn't going to sell it and that their offer was way way off base anyway they followed me for a while (I had stopped at a gas station). I guess I have to find a balance.

I'll just focus on the attention it gets at the university. There's nothing like that sad jealous face I see on some of the young ladies when they drive by my rig in their pansy white Jeeps with gold trim. :-* That's the good stuff!

The only time I've had people asking to buy it was when I had a garage sale and was sitting on the tailgate. I just asked a crazy high price that I knew they wouldn't pay.
I came out of the grocery store one day and a guy was standing beside mine explaining to his teenage son what 3 on-the-tree was.
Since mine has no doors or top I usually just get yells at stop lights or driving down the road. Even had a guy in a CJ-5 tell me how nice it was. Guess there are some jeep owners with some sense...

Sorry to hear of your issues, must be all the new bling you recently put into it! As far as mine, nothing but positive...I'm as bad as the other stalkers when I see another EB!

I participated in the Jacksonville Fruit Cove Car Show last weekend, 450 classic cars, restomods, etc. It was some turnout!! Wouldn't you know it, I had the only Bronco in the joint, and its not a show quality truck, but you never would have known from the crowd.

I couldnt get away to see the other cars for fielding questions and interest. One young lady and her husband had recently bought 2 EB's, she was very proud to tell me one was HER truck!!! very nice folk, Im sure I will see them at future shows.

While I didnt get any offers this time, I usually do, much to the suprise and disbelief of my wife who really knows how much we have in the old rust bucket! Despite the offers, I could never make half the money back I have into her, and couldnt care less. I'm always self critical on the truck, just thinking of what I want to improve on it in the years to come, sometimes its nice to stop and smell the roses...

Wasted because you are a girl? Did you drive back into 1950? My little girl has already decided on a Bronco when she gets older. At 5 years old she knows the difference between a Jeep and a Bronco, and has a soft spot for Mustangs from the 60s. I have a box of old engine parts left over from the rebuilt and she can tell you which is the cam, valves, ring gear, or the intake manifold.

I would ask why a girl driving a Bronco impinges on their manhood. You could ask it in such a way to allude to the fact that they are compensating for a “short” coming somehow.

Why do I always seem to get the idiots? Last weekend I pull up to a post office and go in and mail my stuff. I come back out and there are 3 guys (all Armenian with heavy accents) surrounding my Bronco. And this is what one of them said:
"Wow...where did you get this...from OJ?" All I could do was shake my head in disgust.
