How would you mount that ram Chuzie?

I see the threaded boss's for the hydraulic lines but otherwise a smooth body.

Mount via the rod ends just like my old ram.

Btw- when is the Florida crowd getting together or have i missed another announcement? PM me.

No get togethers that I know of.
Looking forward to fall bringing us some cooler weather.
Hopefully the break in the heat will get everybody thinking about the next get together.

Running some numbers at 1,000 psi supply with different rods for push / pull.
5/8 rod = 1767 / 1460 psi = 307 diff
3/4 rod = 1767 / 1325 psi = 442 diff
1.00 rod = 1767 / 982 psi = 785 diff

Should I be concerned about psi difference in pull between the different rods or is it pretty much nominal?

Im running that ram with my hydo assist set up im using a f-100 two wheel drive box that i drilled and tapped. Iv only been running it bout 5 months tho. But im pleased with it iv had no issues with it no have i had any problems with any thing iv gotten from them. Just so you know that ram has -6 sae ports i beleve. Just a heads up so u dont have to wait for the right fittings to come in like i did. Lol

Do you feel a difference in steering between left and right?

The only time you'll really see a differenace between the rod pressures is when your wheeling and trying to turn the tire against a object. Overall youd notice it most with the 1in rod but unless your running real big tires I wouldnt be to concerned. in a assit setup the steering box is still doing a large part of the work and controls the turning speed for the most part.

Surplus center has some decent stuff and some cheap stuff sometimes you get what you pay for. Sometimes cheap works out fine. The 3000 psi version should be ok. Most cylinders leak either due to wear, damaged rods or incorrect seals.

That makes sense. I really need to investigate further why the leak is occurring before I put another cylinder on there.

Chuzie, what cylinder are you running now? I have the Redneck Ram setup and it seems like it may be leaking now after the truck being down so long.

Not sure. It has a 5/8 rod and is either a 1.5 or 1.75 x 8. Gotta go measure again. It was a hand me down.

I am thinking, since it has new seals, the rod is bent or i have it mounted poorly.

Most likely the rod has a nick/dent/gouge in it and leaks when it crosses the seal. All depends on how much its leaking and where its leaking from.. Another issue arises when some of the cheap cylinders are actually metric sized and seals dont fit properly unless they are actaully specd out.
Id probably try and stick with a 5/8-3/4 in rod. as your pressure differances will be lower. But theres nothing wrong with the 1in rod and the 2in piston helps.

It was leaking within a couple weeks of seal replacement. Even leaked with no pressure just sitting in garage. I may take it to a different hydraulic shop and get a 3rd pair of eyes. May be able to save some $ if we find a problem.
