Mocking up my 04 Mustang GT Hydroboost today. With my new bracket, Can the Master Cylinder reservoir sit at a angle like the picture below?

Is there another option for a different Master Cylinder with a flat reservoir? Thanks for any help you can provide.

A lot of guys use a master cylinder from I believe Dodge Ram pickups and Dodge full-size cars from the 80s. It's still that style with an aluminum body and a plastic Reservoir but it sits flat. I think the bore is 1 1/8 inch but whatever it is a lot of the guys here say it's just right for a Bronco and apparently will bolt up although you may need to adjust that little rod in the booster that pushes on the master cylinder to make sure that it's not making premature contact but at the same time making sure that it's not too far away either.

I don't think sitting at an angle like that would be good in the long run because of fluid capacity issues of the reservoir. That being said, I don't think the master cylinder itself (piston and bore) would mind not sitting at an angle. I used a master cylinder from a 70 corvette (my HB is from an astro van) because of hood clearance issues with the original Astro MC/reservoir (plus it looks more retro, which is what i'm going for). It bolted right up without requiring any shims. Mustang HB may require an MC with a different bolt pattern.

Thanks for the help, It would be nice to have a flat reservoir and line connections that came out of the side rather than the bottom. I'll do a search for the Dodge Ram Master Cylinder. Thanks again

Ran that way for years, no problem.

Agree. Mines been at an angle for 3+ years now with no issue.

Also running the 80's Dodge RamCharger MC. Works well. I did have to oval out the holes on the MC to fit.

Hi, X2, the angle is OK. Remember, you don't fill it to the top, and as long as the ports in the master are always covered with brake fluid you will be fine. Good luck

I have the same M/C and had the same question. On a whim and a hunch, I went a pick & pull and grabbed reservoir from a model that had a flat/parallel reservoir.

Can I use my Wilwood 1-1/8” bore m/c with the 99-04 mustang h-boost? I ordered the bracket from catfan.

Howard2x4x4, Do you remember what car or truck the flat reservoir came off of?

Can someone help me with these brake lines? How do I go from metric connections at the Mustang Master cylinder to standard connections at the distribution block? I've been searching the internet and parts stores for days. I'm exhausted

No, I'm sorry, I don't, but I know it was a Ford. Just by coincidence, I was mocking things up yesterday and pulled it out of the box.

Cardone 134007 will work on the Mustang H-boost, it's off an F-150.
It's flat and the lines come out the side.

catfan I think that will work. I will have to clock the Hydroboost 90 degrees but the fittings are standard. There is hope again.. lol Thank you.

Ha, the jokes on me, sort of! Went to swap reservoirs today and found the flat replacement had different hole spacing! Heck, darn, drat! So I measured the Mustang spacing and found one that matched perfectly at the pick and pull off a 2002 Mustang. $11. I'd say "on the road again", ' cept I'm not even on the road yet. Still in beautiful west Michigan

Howard2x4x4, At least now we know where to find the level reservoir. Good find. Let us know how it goes. I may be able to finish mine this weekend.

The 1989 F150 Pickup Master Cylinder fit perfect. I only had to cut and flare one of my stock brake lines. Thanks catfan.

I'm now ready to fire this thing up. Is there any tips for Initial startup? I know that the Hydroboost is pretty dry. Should I prime it somehow? Thanks everyone

Do I need to split the boost to install the spring, rod and star washer? Or do you just push it in? I don't want to bend the star washer (not sure if that's the correct name).
