Is this frame too far gone?

Unfortunately that's pretty far gone. I've fixed frames before and it's a nightmare. Most of the rot is on the inside where you can't see it. When you start cutting out sections you find more rot. You end up cutting out more and more till you find good metal. I'd suggest filter going a good used frame. If you got deep pockets they do make new ones.

But does that frame come with a title?

That is where things can start getting ugly when a frame swap needs to happen. As the values climb so does the scrutiny over VINs on the frame matching the title. The days of a glovebox door and a title to get a Bronco registered are pretty much over.

For what it's worth, I have used a pneumatic needle gun to remove the outer layer of rust . The needle gun I have hits hard enough to break through the frame any place it is weak. After this process you WILL see the bad spots and be able to better able to see how much the rust left you to work with. My guess is the frame in those pics is pretty bad...Good Luck

Wouldn't be too hard to move the vin from the old frame to the new frame. Not that I would do something like that, of course.

I don't know if I should create a new post or not but if I decide to buy a new frame (like new new, not a used frame with a Vin) how does that work with the existing VIN and being able to register the vehicle?

Rules on VIN swapping vary a little by state. The best is to have a title that matches the frame. If not, usually get the DMV involved. Get involved early. Worst thing possible is to finish the project then try to get a title for it.

Delete your posts except for the original. Make NO further references to Vin numbers on frames. Do yourself that favor. Send me a PM if need more explanation of why you don't want to screw yourself on a public website.

minnesota your good to go. They dont check any numbers ever. if you got a title you can get plate and tabs. they just want there money. But im happy knowing my title matches my glove box door, frame, motor, and vin tag
