NOS wiper conversion kit on ebay

Interesting auction, I haven't seen one before. A wiper conversion kit for 66-68 vacuum wiper Bronco. I can't quite see from the instructions if the windshield gets redrilled or if maybe the arms are different length on this kit to retrofit the earlier windshield. Anyway, my conversion is already done with used parts, but thought someone else might find it of interest. Quite an asking price...

That sure is cool... Big money! I've considered doing the electric wiper conversion... Not sure I want to drill on my windshield frame tho...

New Port Engineering.

66-68 system there is No drilling needed to convert earlier Vacuum wiper systems.

69-77 is a direct fit for original electric wiper systems.

Smaller, less bulky and quieter than original too.

From one of the pictures it looks like the instructions show measurements for two sets of holes in the windshield frame (early and late). Also, included in the kit are 3 rubber hole plugs and a grommet, 2 of which are shown to plug the old holes when doing the conversion. I believe the conversion requires drilling new holes.

You are correct. With the Original NOS system on eBay you would have to drill new holes to install on a 66-68 Bronco that had Vacuum Wipers.

New Port Engineering has a system for both (early and late) depending on what year your Bronco is so you do not have to drill holes.

I knew what you meant. I was just answering the question from the original post. Good to learn about the company you are familiar with as well.

I can't quite see from the instructions if the windshield gets redrilled or if maybe the arms are different length on this kit to retrofit the earlier windshield.

In this part of the instructions, you can see they give dimensions for drilling two new holes & the kit includes plugs for the existing vacuum wiper holes.

So, a standard electric wiper setup.

You would think they could make the one link longer for a drop in solution instead of making the buyer drill new holes...

Glad I was able to find a used one for way less than that!

You'd need to drill anyway as the electric wipers require larger holes than the vacuum wipers.

I have the New Port wipers on my Bronco. Much cleaner and simpler install than the factory stuff. They are quiet like someone mentioned also. No cons that I can see.

i am assuming you used the new port for your 66 vacuum conversion? if so did you have to modify the window frame/drill out enlarge the holes or is the NP kit a complete bolt on?
thanks

Correct, this is used on my 66. Some PO of mine hacked in electric wipers at some point, so that was the only (un)modification I had to make. My original vacuum wiper holes were unmolested, and the New Port system slid right in. It’s as bolt in as you can get!

The vac wipers certainly have a cool/nostalgic factor to them! I would have run them too if they we’re present on mine. The NP stuff is top notch in my opinion though.

i hope my vac wipers work out for me. they are super cool for sure but if they don't work as they should that could be a real pain. i have 4 wipers now and hope to make 2 of them work good.

cheers
