Just stop and visited James Duffy, great people !!! I ended up getting their T-rex arms in black for my 74, and was wondering what degree c -bushings you guys run 4 or 7 degree ?my 74 has 3.5 inch lift and I do have the James Duffy adjustable radius arm brackets that I can adjust 1, 2, or 4 degrees.
Thanks Dave

if you brackets give you the option to help you dial in caster, then i'd go either 4 or 7. get as much as you can

The only thing I'm worried about is, the T-rex arms have 4.25 degrees built into them,
So I'm not sure if the 7 degrees are to much ,where the driveline will bind.

So….. yeah I just did this and the built in 4.25 degrees is some fact but not what you’re asking for.

You’re NOT getting 4.25 more degrees of caster. The arms for sure have built in caster but if you see an additional 1 degree that’s probably it.

I did the 4 degrees thinking the same thing your thinking, and yup, I’m taking out the front axel again to take the 4 degrees out and install the 7 degrees.

Now….. I love the T-Rex arms for all that they do, but the added caster isn’t a 1:1 thing and not sure why that’s not highlighted. Do the 7 degrees and don’t look back.

I have the same 3.5” suspension and 1” body lift. Love the T-Rex, again, but the marketing comment is misleading when we’re all thinking about total caster. They don’t add what your assume given the description.

Thanks that's what I needed, I'll get the 7 degree. I agree it is a little miss leading, I assumed the same thing you did,,that the built in number of the arms were more. The arms are awesome and can't wait to install them. The main reason l got them was so my tires would stop rubbing!!!
Thanks Dave

Agreed, go 7*. I made the same call and went 4* based on the additional advertised 4.25* .
Handled like crap, so I went back to 7* and handling returned to what I had previous. Disappointing, since I really like the arms overall.

I was told that you need to check u-joint knuckle clearance, when using these arms with 7* bushings. You need to make sure they don’t hit each other.

Contemplating either the Duffs long arm kit or the T-rex, but can't make up my mind. I'm mainly concerned about trying to get some caster back on a 3 1/2 lift and not having to cut and rotate the knuckles 10 degrees (from what I've read). I have the means to do it, but don't know if I want to go down that rabbit hole. I do a little offroading, but sounds like the long arm kit is for serious flex, which I'm not about. The T-Rex offset arms, stock length, will eliminate the tire rub, but I'll end up in the same boat wanting more caster.. :(

Not to over simplify but what did Duff say to use?

They said to use the 7 degree bushings, but since I have their adjustable drop brackets, I can fine tune the arms, since they, adjust from 1,2 or 4 degrees. I was just wondering, what other people have used and experienced withi different c -bushings .

I missed that last part - the adjustable drops... I have 4 degree bushings, no adjustable drops, and have about 1.5 degrees caster each side. With those adjustable drop brackets, another 2 degrees each side would be great. I may consider that option as the few that get the bind with 7 degrees gives me a lil pause.

Now since the arms seem to only give you around 1 to 2 degrees, I'm wondering if the adjustable drop numbers may be less than what they say.

I installed the T-Rex Arms and 4* bushings with 3 1/2" Coils in a Bronco I built for my cousin. The truck has no issues what so ever. He actually drives it on the highway 70+ and loves it.

The 4* Bushings were recommended by JD.

I think the answer is really to have an alignment dictate what you need.

Pre T-Rex arms, I had 2* bushings and caster was -1.3* (driver) and -1.6 (passenger). Added T-Rex arms and 4* bushings and caster was +2.1* (driver) and +1.6* (passenger).

So I gained 3.4* (driver) and 3.2* (passenger), between T-Rex and moving up 2* on bushings. That's how I'm guessing the T-Rex did, say, 1.3* added caster.

Given you have those brackets, you have another option on increasing caster. I'd want to know where I was once together. For me... well... swapping bushings!

The way it set up now it drives great with the stock arms and 3.5 inch coils. The only issue is, with stock arms, I loose a lot of my steering radius and the tires rub on my the stock arms. With the t-rex arms I'll gain that back. Plus I'm not sure what degree the -bushings are on the bronco.

I run t-rex arms and 7 degree bushings.
3-1/2" suspension lift.
35's

Mine regularly sees 70-75 on the freeway (sometimes 80... this is Utah after all... LOL)

That combo seems to work well for me.
