I am looking for suggestions for mounting the American auto wire fuse panel. Id like to put it in the glove box but not sure if there is a better location?
Hi @DirtDonk I did it once with a '75. Had to cut a bigger hole where the ashtray was (think the speaker might be an option too (cut and fill both ashtray and speaker). It actually worked out great, everything was easily accessible. I don't remember what kind of harness, though.I always thought it was too big to mount behind the face of the ashtray, but I think I heard someone said they did that.
Otherwise, about the only other two places that seem to be where people choose, are either on the top part of the center hump, or the drivers kick panel.
The center hump depends on how you have your heater and other items laid out.
The kick panel depends on how you have your parking brake set up, but I don’t think that’s been as big a problem.
The glove box seems to be the most popular.
Under the hood is not completely out of the question. It’s just not as desirable because of exposure to the elements and sometimes lack of room.
I’ll post picture latter but I mounted it where the dash speaker grill is since I have no intention of using it , I made a hinged door with the speaker grill and sheet,,
This is what I did. Was an AAW harness.I have the plastic glove box liner and installed the fuse box according to the instructions. Worked well for me. View attachment 935491 View attachment 935492
