I ordered a stock cam to try on my column but you have to remove part of the lever. Would like to see a pic of the cam you ordered.
Instead of ordering a cam from Tom's Offroad. I went out to the shop and created a cam on my own. Using the 1/4" tall shoulder, on the back side of the steering wheel hub.

I designed a one piece aluminum cam that attacts to that shoulder. With a light press fit and two #8 set screws. Not having a CNC mill. I had to make several cuts, rotating the part slightly, to create the cam lobe.

The cam lobe, represents the positions of the pressed in pins. Supplied in the kit. Once installed and tested in the garage. A test drive was in order. The cam seems to work great. I did put a little grease on the cam for good measure. Here is a sketch I made for the cam.

What a great fix!! Nice job... there's a market out there! :)

THIS kind of stuff is what made me happily change to a GM style column... I fought blinkers, cancellation arms every couple yrs for decades (literally for 6 decades + ) because they were bad when FoMoCo made them and when you couldn't buy Ford ones anymore they wouldn't last a year... 10 yrs on my GM style and nothing but smiles. :) Ford's '74 column was the worst for the lower brg and seal also... lol

That's fantastic! Was reading your other thread and thinking/wondering, why nobody (the manufacturers that is) has designed a collar that simply fits the commonly available factory style cam. Like this WH 2716 part.
Yours is likely better, because my idea would likely require heavy machining of the aftermarket stuff.

And to be clear, the available version (like linked above) with the single cam, is NOT like the factory originals for at least early models.
My '71, and other friend's '72's and '73's, all seemed to have a 2-lobe cam vs the 1-lobe cam available.
Never seen (yet) the twin cam model. Maybe there's an advantage/disadvantage to one or the other, but that would be an interesting comparison.

Thanks Paul, the problem I experienced with the use of just two pressed in pins. Was, that the cancelation lever, can get caught, between the pin a the shoulder of the hub. In my case it pulled one of the pins out of the hub. I was surprised that the lever didn't break as well.
Using my drawing as a reference. I first machined the lobe with a gradual slope. On a line tangent between the 1.250 diameter and the .125 diameter of the pins. And as suspected, the cam lobe would not cancel the switch. The cancelation lever needs a more abrupt catch to cancel the switch. So I machined the lobe like my drawing. From the pin radius to the opposite radius at the 1.250 diameter. This created a very short flat between the radius and pin radius. Just enough of a flat to cancel the turn lever. And with this short flat and internal radius. The lever can't get caught behind the pin diameter.
As for the the WH2716 cam. I did see that same one offerd on Tom's Offroad site. I didn't give it a try, fearing the same results. That the lever could get behind the lobe.
My cam seems to work great for now. Not having a CNC or a rotary table for my mill. It did take a fair amount of time to machine it.
