Anyone have any tips for saving a battery that has been dead for a long time but was new when you left it? I know I am not the only one who has a bronc that sits and gets neglected. I hate to throw another battery out.

Anyone know any CPR for a battery, I've got nothing to loose!

Dead how long? Put it on the 2 amp charger overnight and cross your fingers.
Is it a deep cycle? You would have a good chance if it was.

Luck to you

2amp charger for three or four days, then deep discharge it and recharge it again. Do that three times and it might get back to 90 percent. The first time you hook it up you may need to add another battery to it, just to trick it inot taking a charge.

its charging

Well, I did two things at the same time so I'll never know which one did it. I unhooked the dead batt from the bronco cables and I did the good (racer) batt cross cable trick. Let it sit for about 20 min on the charger and unhooked the jump batt and hooked the charger to the old batt and its taking a charge now. Maybe somthing is on in the old bronc that wouldn't allow the batt to take the charge. Will see in the AM.
Thanks for all the help.

the best way is to not let this happen!! if you let your rig sit for long periods, then once a week charge the battery on trickle over night

Send $1.95 to ....... just kidding. Thanks. This information is just stuff we were taught, nothing I came up with on my own that is for sure. But we have tested it and it does work.

Here is a project for you guys if you are bored sometime. Odyssey batteries supppies major telecommunications in th southern US. They all run off batteries, not hardwired electrical. So these big companies have thousands of batteries in use, in stock, etc. They also have to change them out. So you often can searchon the internet and find new Odyssey batteries for dirt, dirt cheap. They will all be way down in power. But Odyssey's quality will most often let you bring back a self discharged battery back fro mthe dead, to about 95+% capacity.

I have seen PC680's with metal jackets go for as low as $15 if you buy 10 at a time. Lot of work bring them back up, and you would lose two probably. But still 8 good PC680's for $150 is a steel. I know of many of drag car with only one of these batteries in it.
