Looking to put a 2021 f150 coyote with 10 speed 10r80 transmission into a 74' Bronco, has anyone had any experience coyote swapping a 21' and up coyote? Not many articles, almost none, online about it. Shifter, pedals, etc. seem to all be electric and would love to talk to someone who's done it and see how it turned out

The issue at this point using a 2021 F150 liftout is going to be the select shift 10R80 transmission. There are 2 issues. 1st is that Ford doesn't seem to have a control pack yet as of 6 months ago for the motor. Power By The Hour may have a controller for the engine. The transmissions 2021 and later from the F150 use select shift and there isn't a trans controller as of yet to make it work. That could change soon but you should look at using the 2017-2020 F150 10R80 with your motor. I like the 2021 Mustang 5.0 with the 2020 F150 Trans for the swap. There is more stuff to make it work. Also you will have to add the power steering pump and serpentine belt to the coyote. Kincer has a kit for it that allows you to use the OEM AC and Alt.

The mustang motor version has 460HP Vs F150 around 390something but F150 has higher torque. You don't need the F150 torque with a Bronco (or even the 390something HP for that matter). It's just fun bragging rights over 350HP either way.

One thing I have discovered is it may be cheaper to buy a brand new Gen3 crate motor and a used trans on ebay then buying a Mustang liftout package and then still having to buy a 4x4 trans for 3-4K used. The 10R80 4x4 trans is about twice as much as the 2wd 10R80. You would be lucky to sell your 2wd liftout 10R80 for 2K even with 10,000 miles since there are so many available., so again its probably less expensive to go new motor and used 4x4 trans. Found this out after I paid 14K for the liftout set with 7K miles on it. I havent been able to sell the 2wd trans listed for 2500.00.

Advanced adapters has the 10R80 to Dana20 tcase adapter.

Hope that gets you started. Have fun.

Another thing I don't like about the latest gen Coyote engines is the oil pump is now driven by a belt. A wet belt inside the engine. I consider those engines time bombs. I've owned several engines that are 40,50, a couple are even 60 years old and have never been opened up. It was bad enough when they ran belts on interference engines. Then they changed and went to clearance engines. Belt breaks (and they will) engine stops, put a new belt on, go drive more. But loose a belt that is only driving the oil pump, game over.

My daily driver is 14 years old and over 171k on it. Closest I have been to inside the engine is one set of spark plugs (that it didn't really need) and one O2 sensor. And plenty of oil changes. If I had that wet belt I would have been all the way down to the crank with the front cover off long time ago based on both time or mileage. I see no reason for planned surgery that deep into a modern engine.

Another thing Ford has been doing lately, not sure if they did this to the Coyote or not, delete the crank keyway. If you loosen the crank bolt (think front seal) you have to retime the crank with the cams. Really not impressed with the newest Ford engine engineering.
