• Be EXTREMELY cautious if someone offers to buy your Bronco for more than your asking price and sight unseen. ESPECIALLY if the buyer is overseas. It's probably a scam.

No insult here. After all, my name is DerelLict so I get people may be wary! I have a one man shop, Derel Lichts Hot Rod Shop, in Aurora Oregon, just south of Portland. I am 70 years old. I have been off-on monitoring this forum for years but didn't actually register til '21. My Bronco history goes back to 1973 when I bought my first 66 U15, then a 70, 71, and a rolled 72 I put a Datsun PU body on. Sadly, all long gone :( Fast forward to 2020 when I bought my second 66 which is in process now to be finished and on road by end of year. I also own a 69 that is next up. I searched for a used or NOS set of CR Laurance windows with no luck. Toms Offroad had one set left but is spoken for by an employee. I contacted CR Laurance and tried hard to convince them to re-introduce but was told "absolutely no way". As you can see by my earlier posts I have been working on this project for nearly a year. The 2 pair of prototypes look fantastic and now that I am aware of why I couldn't post pics I will get set up as contributor and get the pics posted soon. Meantime I will email pics to anyone who request them with an email address. I was planning to get one of my roofs in color (Regis Red) before installing the windows but will go ahead and get one installed for pics as well.
By the way, I was NOT soliciting for anyone to send me money at this time. As I said I have already invested a bunch of $$ in the 2 sets I have and want to get a better handle on amount of interest before I dump more money in a run of 50 sets. Ideally I would prefer to wholesale all or most of them to re-sellers rather than direct to end users but I suspect initially I will have to sell some individual pairs to get the word out and recoup some investment.
Thanks to all for the replies and interest. This is encouraging and I will keep the post active and updated.
Derelict,
I Zog here, I asked a month or so ago about the non tinted straight aluminum sliders. You said they would be available first of October. Is that still true?

NOTE: For clarification; I am NOT soliciting any payment for windows at this time. I am looking for the level of interest before making a large investment in a production run. That said, I am VERY encouraged by the response so far and will keep post active and updated.

I just received first two pair of new design sliding side windows for early Bronco roof. These are very high quality windows. New custom designed aluminum extrusion. These are similar to the original CR Laurance windows but improved. Frames are welded, not screwed together. Finish is semi gloss black. Glass is medium grey tint, DOT approved and marked accordingly. Both panels slide. Rear panel slides forward full half and IS screened. Screen also slides when rear panel is open. Front panel slides back about half of panel length due to frame being tapered. These are prototypes and I think we can improve the front panel travel though not likely to full half opening. As is they work fine for ventilation while driving, AND you can always open the rear panel. Both panels latch individually in closed position.
Windows install using original replacement rubber gasket and will work with basic style or sport style gasket with chrome insert. When installed the outside face is pretty much flush with rubber gasket. Overall frame thickness is about 1-1/4" so is near flush with inside of top
These are packaged 1 pair to a corrugated carton suitable for shipping. Retail price is $595 pair. Yes, it is a little more than I hoped but feds have imposed a 27.5% tariff on aftermarket automotive import items. Feel free to write your Congressman :)
My first production run will be for 50 pair but I really need some indication of interest before I pull the trigger on that order. If I order by end of June I will have them available to ship by September.
If you are interested in reselling these please contact me for specifics. They will come to me packaged 5 pair to a wooden crate, minimum wholesale order would be one crate (5 pair) and discounts will graduate with order quantity.
I have pictures but cannot figure out how to attach them here. I guess I am technically challenged? email me and I will be happy to send pics. Any help on posting the pics here will be appreciated as well.
Please give me an indication of interest. I already have a bunch of money invested in the prototypes ( Thats OK because I needed two pair for my Broncos ) and this will represent a fair investment on my part. I really do not need 50 pair lining my shop walls as garage art :)

Good morning!
I’m checking in regarding the slider windows. I understand from one of your suppliers that the new non tinted windows are delayed. Is there any chance I can get a set of black framed non tinted windows? Ie the ones you have in non tinted glass?

I'll try to hit the pertinent points here.
New batch will be here early November
Available thru Toms, Wild Horses, Bronco Designs, and NE Classic Ford
Screen is located in its own track so slides independant of glass and won't blow out with window open but would probably create its own wind noise. Due to the non-square shape, the screen will only work for the rear slider
They are a medium tint, no dark tint available.
Also available in silver frame with clear glass.
suggest retail is still $599 pair
I am not familiar with the referenced BC Safari cage but these are a direct replacement for stock side windows using original style gaskets (with or without Sport trim insert) so if a stock window would fit so would these
For some reason I cannot post a pic here anymore, but there are some pics installed on an orange bronco on an earlier thread. If you will email me directly at theitmanek@westmarklm.com I will be happy to forward pics along

Great to see these taking off with all of the parts houses. Good for you, happy to watch this progress grow for you for a product that the market desired.

WARNING!!!! Until someone can post a video of the installation procedure i'd hold off on buying these. Tom's sends them out with no instructions what so ever and due to there tight fit I've destroyed a set of gaskets and have not come even close to getting one in. I'm going to contact Tom's on Monday and hopefully the stand by what they sell and either show some proof these have been test fitted and successfully installed, offer up some new gaskets or more to my liking a complete refund. Just offering this as a warning before you cut the shit out of your fingers from pulling on para cord and waist money on gaskets and windows the look great sitting in your back room.

This is Derellicht. I designed these windows and have them manufactured and provide them to Toms and others. The first batch of 50 pair are VERY difficult to install and you should have been told that by Toms. They should have included a detailed instruction sheet with those windows along with a smaller (1/8") diameter pull rope and a bottle of Polywater J pulling lubricant (all of which I provided to them as a kit for every pair of windows they received, expecting them to pass along to end users.).
The instructions state that if you remove 1/16" of the window opening flange front and rear (or all around) it makes the job easier-but still not easy. I have personally installed them BY MYSELF in my top WITHOUT modifications just to prove to myself it can be done. I highly recommend you have the kit, a helper, a lot of patience, and a beverage of choice to celebrate when accomplished. Somewhere on this forum there are pics and the instructions posted. I will be happy to send you (or anyone else who has one of the original pairs) the same kit with instructions at my expense. email me at tomndine@outlook.com with your mailing address and I will get it out immediately. I apologize profusely for the inconvenience you have experienced. I have gone to great effort through the re-sellers, on this forum, and elsewhere to make certain end users are informed about this difficulty but I am not privy to the customers that re-sellers ship them to :(. At least not until a negative post like this pops up.

FYI--
The problem isn't with the fit of the window frame in the top once installed, it is that there is NOT adequate clearance to easily get the gasket flap pulled between the frame "box" and the flange to the inside during the install process . As you likely discovered you can get the gasket pulled in to about 1/2 to 2/3 of the way around but the last stretch is tight and the final corner is usually where you tear the gasket. If you start at the upper front and get it and the top in, then use a c-clamp (I used vise grip welders clamps) with wood blocks to clamp the frame (compressing the gasket) as tight as possible to the front and top flanges you can create enough clearance to get the rest of the way around. Before you start make sure your flange is clean and free of rust or burrs, ESPECIALLY at the corners. It might help to round out the sharp corners but I did not do that. Then wax it with canners parafin or candle wax, then use plenty of Polywater J to get it roped in. Polywater J is available at any electrical supply house for around $12-15 a quart or on Amazon for double that, a quart goes a long way. Polywater is super slippery and water soluble so cleans up easily. I wouldn't be without it in my shop! Don't use 3M or Ideal or any other pulling lubricant, they just aren't as slick.

I re-designed the extrusion for the second batch to allow 5.5 mm additional clearance all around the "box" portion that protrudes through the gasket and the gasket itself. This allows the gasket flap room to deflect during installation which makes it a much more tolerable job getting the flap roped through to inside of flange. From the outside the windows look virtually identical to the windows you have. From inside the glass panels and frame are 5.5 mm smaller which is barely noticeable. This batch of 100 pair includes 25 pair of silver frame with clear glass. The ETA for these is around Thanksgiving. Between Toms , Wild Horses, Bronco Designs, and NE Classic Ford all 100 pair are committed and should be in their hands and available before year end.

Don't hesitate to contact me with questions

What type of glass is used in the production of these? Tempered glass?
