As I recall the b/h for a 250 isn't the hard part, it's the flywheel and the oil pan.

If you're a decent fabricator even the oil pan isn't all that difficult. I've built a number of them over the years. Speedway Motors used to sell an oil pan baffled sump kit intended for SBC oil pans, but could be adapted to other pans with a little imagination, but I've even built one from an 8' fluorescent light fixture (it was what we had and was within the budget) to put a KA engine in a 510.

I thought there was also some height issues with the 250 since it is a taller block and the head sits up into the hood?

The 200 is a drop in replacment. The 250 takes some work to fit.

Is there enough difference that will be an issue using a 170 from an early mustang in a 66 bronco? If it is not a problem can I use the flywheel ,pressure plate,clutch and bellhousing from the 170 c.i. mustang ? My chassis has a stock 3 speed trans in it now. So in other words will it all bolt up?

Could easily be, I've never done that swap or really looked into it with any depth.

My understanding is that ll of the 200's are 7 main bearing engines, where the 170's are all 5 main bearing engines. Unless I was building a perfect, Concours type resto I'd opt for the 200 over any 170.

It's also my understanding that the 250's distributor is the same as the earlier engines, which means that a 250's Dura-Spark II dist. can be used in a 170 or a 200. Those aren't as common as they used to be, but I'd want one of them as well.

I have a 71 with a 250. It takes more work to get it to work. The block is much taller and will have clearance issues without doing a body lift.
True, the transmission selection is great. I'm running a NV3550. The torque seems to have no limit.
PS, PDB, Ford electronic ignition all with a 6 cylinder.
