Thanks for the pics Todd, I was wondering how many broncos went through the block this year. Crazy if most were coyote builds... just pricing out a coyote crate motor swap is painful!!!

I got really lucky with what I paid for my 73 two years ago during the value spike. Even Maxlider Bros are selling non-coyotes for a decent price right now. The fun of the build is for me, but if I wasn't a guy that wanted to do the extra work I would definitely shop at the auctions now or buy from one of the many quality builders.

Thanks for sharing the pictures Todd.
If only it was a drive away, I would attend one of these auctions.

It seemed to me that most of the nicer Broncos sold under what they should have and some that I would consider a turd sold for way more than expected. I think the live auction crowd buys what looks cool to them and has no clue what’s what.

I guess dropping in a coyote ups the value by about $60k ?

I’d rather have a 351W anyway

I’d guess an 351W are more reliable than a coyote anyway .

I don’t know much about the coyotes
But if it’s like the 5.4 with the phasers and the timing chain issues , I wouldn’t want it anyway .

The newest Coyote apparently has a wet belt running the oil pump. Need to pull the front of the engine apart at 100k and do the oil pump belt. Even if it doesn't fail, they send debris through the oiling system. For has done this to a bunch of engine. There is a special oil that is supposed to be compatible with the belt, but it is not available in north America.

So, worse than the 5.4 cam phasers and timing chains ?

Did you happen to get a pic of this one, so we know what a $30k B/J Auction Bronco is looking like this year? Just curious..... Thanks, Todd!

Never mind, just saw it was the yellow one... Any more pics of it though?
That was my buddies Bronco from Tucson. Fiberglass doors/hood, paint chips, still pretty solid but I think that's about what he thought it would bring. He just sold his dark blue split window Corvette for $245K so I doubt he cared

I would say so. My understanding is the phasers give warning signs and can be fixed if not ignored. A wet oil pump belt failing doesn't give any warning signs until the engine is totaled.
