My 1967 Roadster has a ground strap attached to the left side of the hood. Can anyone tell me if it is stock or not?

Ford did that to other vehicles, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen one from the factory on a bronco.
And I’m not sure how far back they started doing them, but I only started noticing them in the mid to late 70s.
Got a picture?

Couple of reasons I can think of that the factory did it. One is to make it easier for a hood-mounted lamp to work without two wires. The other is to reduce potential radio noise interference. Maybe a way of reducing rust in the hinge somehow? Or increasing it!
Don't even know that RFI is "a thing" here, but I have always thought so. Maybe Steve has some input on that. I know we've talked about it in the past, but can't remember the details.
Not a bad thing to bring up again.

I'm embarrassed to say I can't figure out how photos work in messages. I can't drag it or get the insert box to work. Can you help?

No problem. It’s not as simple as some sites, but there are ways.
The simplest and most effective, is to pay the 12 bucks a year to become a contributor. That lets you post images right from your device to the discussion.
Or you can post your images up on a free hosting site, such as SuperMotors or similar type.
Or you can upload them to your “garage“ or your “gallery“ functions in the user CP above.
If that doesn’t work, you can email them to one of us with a contributor status, I can do that when I’m around the computer, but I can’t do it from my phone.
So if the garage and gallery doesn’t work, and you don’t feel like using another site, we can work out the email thing.

Okay, thanks for the information, I'll work on it.

Adding them to your gallery might be the simplest and quickest. Unless you already have an account on another site that hosts pictures.
If nothing pans out for you, you can email some images to Paulb@wildhorses4x4.com and I can upload them for you when I have time.
I just usually take longer than most!

Any sign of a 2-way radio, CB radio ever being installed? A smart fella may have added the ground for the electrical noise.
Really doubt it would be for a light. At that point someone would have just run the ground all the way to the light.

My late 1966 U15 had one on the passenger side hood hinge.

It is possible a radio shop installed it in 1966. The original owner (for the first year) had a 102" whip antenna on the LR quarter panel and a small antenna in the center of the roof, for radios in his repair business. Per the earlier replies, it may have been for RFI reduction or antenna performance.

Thanks for the info.

I've seen that referred to as "bonding" the hood (or other panels) when it's done for RFI reduction.

So that it becomes an RFI shield between the ignition system & the radio antenna mast.

...and so it can be used as a power ground for hood-mounted electrical loads, like lights as DD said.

That definitely looks old, but definitely not original. If Ford had done it, it would have serrated ring terminals - not forks. And the lower one wouldn't be tucked under a body bolt's washer.
Hey Steve my name is Ian I was wondering if you can start a conversation with me on this website I have a 94 cv that I’m working on and doing the same project you did to your crown Vic with the 2000 computer system I’m really confused of what wires do I need to cut

No, this isn't the thread or forum for that discussion. But that was a long time ago, and I remember virtually nothing beyond what's in the captions of this photo album:

Don't be surprised if this post & yours get deleted soon...
