Will a new axel seal cover that up, or a lil bead needed?

While the center section was out, I gave it a good cleaning and hit it with a coat of primer, which is the factory finish. It has a new pinion seal, and pre-load set at 20 in/lbs.

I blasted the housing and painted it semi-gloss black. New axle seals, of course.

Backing plates were cleaned and sandblasted and painted semi-gloss black as well.

I also installed new sealed bearings on the axles.

New emergency brake cables are also installed.

Rear brakes have new drums, new shoes, new hardware. Had to scrounge around in my parts stash to find the correct spreader bars for 10" brakes.

Bronco is back in the garage for now. I'm in the midst of a move and it will be a while before I can get back after it.

I'm home for Thanksgiving and the Bronco will be going to storage temporarily. Before I do that, I'm trying to make some progress - today I disassembled the rear driveshaft and cleaned and painted everything with Cast Blast. Tomorrow I hope to reassemble and install.

Also adjusted the emergency brake so at least I have some brakes. If I have time, I'll install the new master cylinder and at least finish plumbing the rear brakes.

Might as wells will get you every time. I had the engine rebuilt on a 1987 Mustang after a water pump lost a bearing. Timing cover studs were siezed. Easy to step into the quicksand.

I also have regrets of doing partial suspension rebuilds and not going deeper. Its tough to fugure out where to stop..and sometimes it is better to go too far.

Driveshaft is done - it was disassembled, wire wheeled, painted with Cast Blast and reassembled with new Spicer u-joints. Before and after pics below.

Got old exhaust out and headers installed. Passenger side was easy-peasy. Passenger side took a bit of effort.

Need to source a kit for dual exhaust with H pipe or x pe.

Brought my 72 Alfa Romeo GTV home a few days ago and the Bronco got temporarily banished to an off-site storage unit. Again. It'll return to the main garage once the Alfa is sold.

Bronco is now in the shop. Finally. Plan is to pull the engine, trans/transfer case this weekend. May end up removing the Dana 30 while I'm at it.

Engine is about ready to come out, but I'll drop the trans and transfer case out the bottom first.

Engine, trans, and transfer case are out. Made a bit of a mess in the garage in the process.

Gotta break some eggs to make an omelette…or something like that. Best analogy I’ve got.

Trans and transfer case are on the bench; I plan to rebuild them first, then the engine. Transfer case rebuild kit should be here before the weekend.

Transfer case disassembly wasn't that bad, once I figured out how to get the problematic lock ring off.
