Dana 20 with NV3550 output toque spec

So I rebuilt my transfer case and attached it to a NV3550 transmission and when it’s hooked up it seems it takes a little bit of force to turn the output yoke. Just wondering what the spec should be on how much force it takes to turn the output shaft on the Dana 20 headed towards the rear axle.

If that’s the case could there be too much torque on the nut and would loosening help it turn better? I rebuilt it and kept the same shims in that it had.

Any help would be grateful thanks!

Just because you used the same shims that came out, doesn't guarantee it is set up correctly.
Loosening the nut is the wrong thing to do, you will end up with a case that pops into neutral from rear high.
Did you press your bearing cups into the output housing with a press (not necessary, but optimal) ?
Did you measure your end-play to .003-.005 (assuming new bearings)?

And are you sure that the transmission is in neutral?
Probably a basic thing, but I wanted to ask to be sure.
If it’s in any gear, it’s going to be harder to turn the yoke.

And the reverse of this check, with the transmission and neutral is it still easy to turn the input shaft? What about in first gear?
