    newbie four wheel drive question

one last question. Does the t-case need to be in neutral for regular street driving or 2 wheel high? I have never touched the thing until yesterday.

    newbie four wheel drive question

This may make me sound stupid but I have to ask. I have owned my bronco for 2 years and never have put it in 4 wheel drive. To make it worse I have never owned a 4 wheel drive that was not push button. So today I wanted to try 4 wheel drive. Please tell me if these were the correct steps. I...

    Which carb?

I was at my local speed shop over the weekend and they were telling me to switch to the 470 TA as well. I am currently running the edelbrock 600 and I was telling them I have no bottom end with a pretty decently built 302. They are telling me the 600 is just to big for the 302. Would i be...

    Loud Knock- Where to start?

Everything was tight, i had to use a breaker bar to get them off. I would have never guessed that could happen. I dont understand why the previous owner would not use better push rods. The thing that bugs me the most is that there is two different brands of push rods used. Some had part...

    Loud Knock- Where to start?

I pulled the other push rods out on that side and found what I think to be the problem. It appears the push rod was rubbing against the guide plate and completely wore away the push rod and created a lip all the way around. The side that bent has the same ring. It must have shaved so much metal...

    Loud Knock- Where to start?

no, I cannot move the rockers up or down. The wear mark on the valve is more towards the exhaust side, would that mean the push rods are a little to long? There are 6.876" long. I also pulled the manifold and the lifters seem to be in good shape from what I can tell. The

    Loud Knock- Where to start?

I am probably way over my head here. I am not much of a motor guy so I will tell you all I know. The motor was built by the previous owner, He said it has Pro-comp 215 heads aldo fit 351W. Comp cams E303 Hyd. 2.05 intake valves. Double roller timing chain. I noticed today that it has 1.6...

    Loud Knock- Where to start?

ok I pulled the valve covers off today finally an you guys were right. I have a badly bent pushrod that looks like it was stretched and the other one is just bent slightly. So my question now is what the heck may have caused that? How do I prevent if from happening again. Am I being naive or...

    Loud Knock- Where to start?

It sure would be easier to do myself if it is in the top end. If something did go wrong with valves does that typically ruin the heads?

    Loud Knock- Where to start?

not sure what compression the motor is. It has pro comp heads, comp cam, double roller timing chain. That is about all I know about the internals. Towed it to my In laws cause it was closer and dont want to go over there today and mess with it. I guess I will start by checking compression...

    Loud Knock- Where to start?

Fresh 302 with maybe 1500 miles on it. Was getting on the freeway yesterday about 1/2 throttle and all of a sudden a loud knock and loss of power. I was able to keep it running to get off the freeway but it has lost all power and will barely start and run. Oil preasure never changed, no smoke...

    Hydroboost help please!!!

I will work on the leak first, and probably replace all power steering fluid with 100% fresh stuff. I think I will unhook the drag link this time when bleeding and make sure that all air is out of lines. I better double check the master cylinder to make sure I got all the air out of it as well...

    Hydroboost help please!!!

I will definately spend some more time trying to bleed it out to see if it gets softer. I kinda expected to feel somewhat like a pedal on a newer vehicle. But, it is far from feeling like that right now. The fitting that is leaking is at the rear on the frame where it is connected to a...
