Stock 302 Hard start issues when warm.

They did have some heat shields from the factory on the Mustangs but this one came from Holley. I blocked off the exhaust cross over with the thin stainless steel plates that came with the gasket set and blocked off the EGR hole in the top mounting surface with coarse stainless steel wool and...

Stock 302 Hard start issues when warm.

I had this same issue here in Florida on 100+ degree days and I'm sure it is caused by our crap ethanol fuel because it's boiling point is only 173 degrees. I was finally able to fix it on mine but it was a lot of work. I installed an aluminum intake, blocked off the exhaust crossover in the...

    FiTech Heat!!!

An electric fan is not the answer. The HD 7 blade factory fan pulls way more air than an electric. Do you have a good fitting shroud? The factory shroud can be modified to work very well with the factory 7 blade fan.

    running hot for years

Sure sounds like the electric fan is a big issue, that's just not enough air flow and it's probably blocking air while at speed. The Explorer fan/clutch with a good fitting shroud is the best followed closely by the stock 7 blade heavy duty fan (or a copy) with a good fitting shroud. I run a...

    5.4 dohc swap

That would simplify things a lot. The 4R70W is a much better choice in an EB just because of the size/length, The 4R100 is strong but HUGE.

    Steering/Caster Issues

Those caster numbers are so low I have a feeling your 7 degree bushings are installed wrong. You may want to double check them.
