Won't stop running even with key out...

Well, I guess I should of bought a solenoid yesterday when I picked up the new ign switch cause I got one today and everything seems to be back to normal. Thanks again for everyone's help, now I have no excuse not to make it to work tomorrow ;D SB

Won't stop running even with key out...

Got a new ign switch but don't know if it fixes things as when I tried putting the pos battery cable back on the battery, there were small sparks and hissing/burning/melting type sound and once the truck tried turning over. I disconnected the voltage regulator but same issues with the battery so...

Won't stop running even with key out...

To answer Braxton357, with the key out, the truck runs exactly as it does otherwise nice and smooth and I could keep driving like that until the noise I got yesterday when starting. I pulled the coil wire that goes into the distributor cap. I'll take the ign switch out this morning and see if...

Won't stop running even with key out...

Nope, my truck is extremely stock except for a stereo I put in two years ago and an Edelbrock carb and intake a few months ago. The harness is original and complete without any PO issues. I think I'll start by changing the ign. switch and go from there, here's hoping! SB

Won't stop running even with key out...

Well things just got more complicated. It started fine but made an awful noise, kind of like the starter stuck so I pulled the coil wire and it still ran but then died when I disconnected the battery. Seems the problem is bigger than just the ignition switch unfortunately. Guess the harness is...

Won't stop running even with key out...

Ya, this is fairly new, happened once a few weeks ago and now it happens all the time. When I put the key back in, nothing happens as I rotate thru the switch (acc, on etc). One thing I noticed was the other electrical items shut off (stereo, lights etc) but the engine just keeps going and...

Won't stop running even with key out...

Hopefully somebody has seen this before. Turned off my truck ('77), had key in hand and heard this slight rumble and realized my truck was still running. Put the key back in and turned it off again without a change, went thru the gears and nothing would turn this thing off. Decided to pull the...

What is needed for Edel. carb?

Forgot to mention that I also got the Edelbrock low profile intake to go with the carb. Is the kick-down adapter the same as the throttle cable adapter or does that mean that I need two adapters (throttle cable adapter, kick-down adapter) plus the throttle plate kit to put it together...

What is needed for Edel. carb?

I just picked up a nearly new used 600 cfm electric choke Edel. carb and after checking out the Edelbrock site was wondering if I need any of their "adapters" to make it fit my C4 automatic '77. I noticed that they sell a throttle lever adapter as well as a throttle cable plate kit for Fords, do...

    Parts for Broncos in Canada

I hear ya, I'm on the East coast in NS and find shipping a killer especially when they ship UPS instead of USPS and extra brokerage fees are added! When I was living on Vancouver Island, B & W out of Cobble Hill (250-743-3274) carried a lot of Denis Carpenter parts as well as a large used parts...

Edelbrock Carb & Intake Set Up.

Thanks, I was also thinking about the 500cfm, any comments from those who have one or tried one compared to a 600cfm. I read about how the Edels aren't the best for off road but for now my truck is used mostly on paved roads. I'm just looking for a little more get up and go. SB

Edelbrock Carb & Intake Set Up.

Was recently toying with an engine swap but decided that for the time being I'll simply put an Edelbrock 2121 intake with a 1406 600cfm carb on my stock '77 302. From those who have this set up, is it a straight bolt on or do I need a linkage kit or any other "extras" before installing...

302 Throttle Body a Good Swap?

Thanks, I'm off to see the truck in a bit so my buddy most likely gave me the wrong info about the FI. I'll know more in a few hours. Supposedly the guy who owns the truck is a mechanic and the truck was just written off by the insurance company so he bought it back but only wants the box. I...

302 Throttle Body a Good Swap?

I was looking for a 351W for my truck when I came across a fresh 302 TB EFI from a '90 F150. I know most guys put in the 302 HO from a Mustang so is this the same (except the heads) or does it matter. I can always swap the heads but I was wondering more about the clearance for the hood, front...

    Water Pump casting number

Hey, that's great, NAPA was one of the places that had the wrong pump for my truck but the guy was very helpful so I'll call him in the morning and pass along the info. Much appreciated.

    Water Pump casting number

My pump starting seeping today on my '77 (302) so I went to all the local parts shops and they all tried to sell me the wrong pump. They all had the inlet on the driver side and all their books indicated the same pump from early '70s to mid '80s for 302 Broncos. I haven't pull my pump off yet so...

    351W Qs

I'm looking at swapping out my tired 302 in my '77 and was wondering if there are any good "how to" sites to switch in a 351W. Also, is there any preference to the 351W or are they all the same from any year. Any pittfalls to avoid as well or is it a pretty straight forward swap. Thanks in...
