    Anybody added a cat?

The smell most get from the exhaust is HC. Raw hydrocarbons just passing through the engine. Can be from running lean, incomplete combustion. Can be from running very rich, so much fuel that it can't even break down into CO, just passes through.

Best electric fan money can buy?

It won't die until you are 50 miles back on a slow technical trail or in gridlock traffic on a 110° day

    Rear view camera

That looks like the rear view camera that some OEMs are offering, not the backup camera.

Serpentine conversion first start - belt walk

Your rigged idler pulley just before the power steering looks to be tracking poorly. And would make sense as it steers the belt onto the power steering.

    Anybody added a cat?

Modern cats are nice and high flow. Not the restrictive monsters from the 70s. I see no reason to not run one, even on old stuff that didn't have one before. With EFI the A/F will stay close enough to keep it functional. You do have to watch heat, they get hot. 13:1 A/F might be an issue. If...

    Frame repair questions

Little rust, body mount completely missing. different locations define little rust differently. Triangle pieces and cut welds on the bumper mounts tell me custom bumpers in the past, maybe winch? Yes, that is a good amount of pitting. Is it as good as new? No. Is it unsafe? I don't think...

    Rear view camera

I have not used that one. But I have a fair bit of experience with, well I can just say cameras. There are 2 completely different camera systems, have completely different views, zero interchangability. There is the typical back up camera. This is what every new car has, actually required by...

How to date 302 casting numbers?

The Performer 289 is a non-emission intake The Performer 302 is an emissions compliant intake. They are interchangable. If you are building a non-emissions 302, you use the Performer 289 intake. Really just about everything is interchangable between a 289 and a 302. Including the innards of...

    C4 transmission housing question

Yes. Gives access to torque convertor nuts, as seen in your picture. Never designed to "seal", just keep big stuff out.

    Factory welds?

They look like spot welds to me. Not plug welds. It would be really rare to find someone with a spot welder that has that much reach. And the factory welds are really crappy looking.

    Question on the C4 Transmission

The vacuum tree is really simple. It is a hole. If there is no vacuum on the branch when the engine is running, it is plugged up. It needs to breath freely to the intake runner. Vacuum is used to rate load on the engine. Less vacuum, the more air in the intake manifold, the more torque the...

    More Caster/Alignment/drivability ideas?

That is correct. And there is a whole other rabbit hole in modern alignments as the SAI (Kingpin inclination) has changed a lot on modern vehicles as well.

Dana 30 or Dana 44 for Disc Brakes

The '79 F150 axle will be full width. If that is your plan, it can adapt in pretty easy. Looking at your profile picture, that bronco looks really stock, than that F150 axle will be a poor choice. It is a lot wider than what a Bronco is. Just because you have a '70, no telling what has...

Fitting 351W + Q-jet Carb under stock hood -- Econoline intake?

Econoline intake will be a square bore. Never heard of a factory spreadbore (Q-jet style) 351W intake. So an adapter would be needed. That eats away the clearance.

    More Caster/Alignment/drivability ideas?

    1) helps reduce body roll, and roll steer 2) also reduces roll steer. The longer, more horizontal radius arms have less for/aft travel of the axle as the suspension travels. 3) alone it shows that track bar and drag link angles were incorrect to start with. Drop pitman arm changes the drag...

    More Caster/Alignment/drivability ideas?

Yes. Since the suspension gets locked up, there are no issues with travel related geometry. Your filings may fall out and you may have internal injuries from driving over a steel plate covering the road.

    More Caster/Alignment/drivability ideas?

I'm reading that as the caster is acceptable. What you describe is issues with bump steer and roll steer. I know the 2½" lift isn't much, but I still see steepish drag link and steering angles. While this is good for traditional bumpsteer, there is another bumpsteer (I don't know if there is a...

My take on the best transmission, new twist on old favorite

The 90's there was a "light duty" F250 offered for a year or two. It is more of the "heavy half" flavor. Half ton frame with a heavier spring package and higher GVW. Think of it as an F150 with a camper package. Later evolved into the F150 with the 7-lug wheels.

Wheel Stud 1/2” vs. 5/8” Bore

Pretty sure that my '77 F250 had factory 9/16 studs. There is a huge selection of studs. I know because I had to go through diminsions since what I had didn't match what the books said I should have. Had to match knurl, length, thread... You might find a set of 9/16 that are straight press in.
