I had 35-12.50's on 8's and got 77,000 miles on a set of General mud tires. Freeway miles, proper air pressure and semi-regular rotation is what got me there.
That's just to show that tread wear can be fine with the narrower wheels too, under the right circumstances.
Both widths are within most tire manufacturers recommendations and will work fine. What the rest of the guys said pretty much sums it up.
Though the taller-vs-shorter is more visual than measurable in most cases involving softer tires. Next time you've got an un-mounted tire sitting there, grab the beads with both hands and pull outward. Get it to 8" and then 10" and meaure what the difference in height is. You might see a bit on some tires, but won't see much at all with most tires.
The tire-wear issue is mostly a well-matched weight rating, correct air pressure and proper alignment (not always easy on a Bronco). In my example above though, I had a completely diffferent beast. A full-size K1500 with IFS and a 6" lift just happens to like those narrower rims with, in my case at least, more positive offset too. Steered better and wore better than most others I knew with that same truck.
I tried to keep them closer to the stock offset than your typical 10" wide wheels were available with at the time.
