I would say it would be harder to find 17 but not 16. 16 has been around for a while now. But I haven't shopped for truck tires in a few years now.

if your looking for a 16 in tire try any of your major manufacturers
goodyear makes a bunch of them from 265/75/16 to 305/70/15.
cooper, bfg, all your major manufacturers produce them.
they are available as AT(michelin etc.)and as an aggresive tire
(goodyear mtr).the 265/75/16 was stock equip on alot of late model fords and dodges. a 285/75/16 is also a popular size. if you want a tall skinny tire try a 285/85/16 thats about a 33/9.50/16. a good size for an uncut.I run 315/75/16's on my wifes 96 f250 2wd. it took about 1in in the front to clear them and they are equivilant to a 35/12.50. the 305/70/16 is a good replacement for most super duty's its a little wider than stock but still clears with no lift. the best thing about 16's is they are cheap to buy new because there are alot of take offs from new trucks on the market. 16 in tires also usually have a higher load rating
than a 15. one other thing to consider you can run less offset with a 16 in than a 15 because the increase diameter allows you to clear the brakes etc. this means you can tuck a bigger tire under the fenders. also by increasing rim diameter you decrease
sidewall flex. a big consideration when running a tall skinny tire.
I'll post some pics of my woods truck with 9.00/16 bias directional's on it tommorrow.
