Hello ! Brand new here and already have a question... I’m currently working on a ‘66 with the original 170ci 6 , recently got a new carb as the one that was on it was totally wrong ... what I am looking for is the spacer or whatever it is that goes between the carb and the manifold . The part that was on it along with the carb that was on it are both completely wrong and I am having a hell of a time locating what I need to go between the correct carb and the manifold . ANY assistance would be greatly appreciated! Thank you !!!

Hi, X2. That is a hot water and carb adapter for the Ford Six engines. Between the carb and the manifold.
Visit Fordsix.com and get the Ford Falcon Performance Handbook to get the most out of your Ford Six.
Good luck

Hi, maybe someone put a carb from a later engine. Around 69' the opening in the manifold was enlarged. Maybe the carb was adapted to the small manifold. Maybe over time a lot of other things were changed.
So, the ignition was also changed. The early engines, up to @ 67' used a carb with a SCV, spark control valve, and the distributor is a load-o-matic, LOM.
After that, they got the modern carb, with ported or timed vacuum advance, and the vacuum advance can on the distributor was changed.
The parts do not mix very well. The old system worked OK, but the new system is better.
The LOM distributor has a very skinny vacuum advance can, and all I have seen use a screw in metal tube for the vacuum. This matches the original style carb.
Very often a "mechanic" would replace the original carb with the modern carb, get the engine running OK, and be done.
If you have the original carb and the newer distributor visit Fordsix.com and learn how to make your parts work together.
Most important, come up with a plan to get where you want to be before spending any money.
Good luck
