I'll be honest, I don't know alot about the classic Bronco options and need help. A local guy I know has a Bronco that he restored 16 yrs ago then parked it behind a barn. He says its titled a 65. and that it is rare because the Hard top was "hand made" because the hard tooling wasn't finished when the first ones came off the line. I have attached some pics. Does anyone know about this?

I know I'm a sceptic but as popular as these things are I would think a pre-production rare bronco would have a better parking place than behind a barn for 16 years. And you can forget just about anything that was restored because it isn't good anymore. I say it isn't impossible but make him prove it.

Yep i'm with ya on the resto. It would need gone completely over. He changed the 6cyl out for a 302, but still three on the tree. He owns a huge company, and after getting it restoed, just parked it, the jags and vetts are in the garage.

May be a early 66 Bronco, but hard top looks like one of the after-market ones offered in the 60s.

Roof is an aftermarket piece made by Kelly manufacturing. Hand made story is not true

'66 is the first model year but a '65 build date is very possible. Still makes it a '66

I have seen a few 66's titled as 65's because they were sold in 65 and built in 65. But they were all 66 model years.

i was gonna say the same thing. plus, that top was made and distributed by other commercial suppliers. just like when you can get a top for a pick-up truck, the same applies for the eb.

There could have been an error in the titling process somewhere down the line. It's a '66 model. I would like to know the VIN. It could have been a Roadster and didn't originally have a hardtop.

And as stated, that is indeed a Kelly Manufacturing top.

X2 a lot of cars were titled as a prior year car even if it was next years model car. Sometimes whoever made up the title just did it by the date first registered or the build date of the car.

Not everyone holds old cars to the same standards popular or not they are not popular to everyone or even considered rare or specail to some people. There are many even more rare vehciles just sitting in someones back yard rusting away because its just a old car to them.

My Uncle, who bought a 65 mustang in 1965, says he looked at a Bronco next to it in the show room. It would be nice to know the vin number.

Broncnaz- I know that not everybody is smart enough to love Broncos but to restore it then put it out to pasture seems odd but if the jags and vetts are in the garage then I just don't like him because he has more money than me.

I'm sure that most know this, but I'm sure some don't. Mustangs were interduced in April of 64, but all through 64/65 they were 65 models. Mustang guys know there are "early" model, most call them 64 1/2 Mustangs, with a few ways to tell them apart (spacing of the "Mustang" letters on the fender, or a genny instead of an altornator), but even so they are all still 65's. Maybe this Bronco is an early one, same idea?

Good point. The EB's were put on the market in August '65, which would technically be a '65 model, if judging by later model vehicles. However, they are still '66's, and other than prototypes, there isn't actually a '65 Bronco.
