Creating this post as it’s peaked my interest from another member trying to figure out if his motor is original or not.

Wondering how many early 66 broncos (u13,u14,u15) are as numbers matching as can be for broncos.

So if anyone wants to partake take a picture of your casting date on the left side of the block below the coil, the casting date on the intake, and the assembly date that’s stamped on the top front left of the engine. And if you still have them the engine tag and carb tag.

If anything hopefully this thread will help possibly narrow down when the broncos were built and if people have an original engine in there bronco

So our bronco U13FL760081 an early October build has an engine assembly date of October 11th 1965, an engine casing date of September 24th 1965, and an intake/head casting date of October 6th 1965 and the carb and engine tags are the same

Glad to add to this database, I need it more than most as I bought from a guy who had it 50 years and saved every receipt. So would love to do some pattern analysis to help me figure out how u15fl733138 has a sept block, even later sept intake snd an Oct top stamp. Yours looks like it lines up well, but wondering if anyone else has something like mine, current theory is dealer replace before delivery a week later in oct. Thanks for the thread!!!!

That very well is probably what happened, the fact the engine assemblies date is October 8th it could have been a replacement motor for your truck which they probably grabbed a block with an an august date code (H) and head/intake with a sept date code (J) that were sitting on the shelve assembled it and shipped it out, or it was stock the dealer had and they put the assembly date on themselves. And it sold a few days later.

So hopefully this thread is a help to you and others

I took these this morning before work, while the truck was thawing out. A couple didn't come out very good and I'll have to look again tonight, especially the stamped one on the top of the block. Between machining and being painted over it might not be too visible. I believe it is the original motor in my 66 U13, #735001. I've only owned it since late '71, and 58K miles, so can't say for sure.

So your block was casted July 29th, head/intake were casted July 20th 1965, I’m assuming that the stamping on the block would match the tag so that an august assembly.

But what I’m curious about is the carb tag says 5K that’s an October 1965 build so at some point the carb must have been replaced in the first few months.

Interesting.....I never paid attention, or even noticed that . Like I said, it could have been switched out anytime in those first 5 years.
