1966 body on a 1976 frame

My 67 body is sitting on my 76 frame. I think the only issue was the fuel tank breather was on the opposite side of the filler tube. A longer hose, or the correct filler tube (I had the correct tube) will correct that.

I believe it will. I was planning on doing that same thing with my 66, but then I found out the frame for my 76 was hosed. I never got to try it out as it was sold when my ex and I bought a house. If I remember right someone told me there would be a problem with one of the body mounts. I measured it all out and I remember thinking it would work. Then as I was cleaning up the 76 frame, I found some "patched" areas that weren't patched with metal.

Good Luck,

John

Should be no real issues. Only ones you might have are at the core support where the power steering box is and the steering shaft with the driver inner fender. I think the rest should be no issue. You will either need a 69 and later hard top or redrill the early one to match up holes with the windshield frame, bolt pattern changed in 69 due to electric wipers.

I have a 69 tub on a 76 frame, my steering box actually fit without having to have the knockout in the core support.

How is your 66 frame? If your frame is good, I would swap the axels and brakes to try and maintain the frame and body together. If your frame is bad, then you should be able to drop it on.

I put a 66 body on a 74 frame, frame is same as 76. I ended up changing my rear door posts so i could use my 74 doors. The only real issue was the wiring. I had to drill a few large holes in the firewall to fit the wiring through as 66 had different wiring and in different locations, also had to plug a few of the holes used on the 66, not a big deal. Overall, it was pretty much a bolt on. Power steering box should still fit.
