1966 brake drum and hub removal

Look for item #71 in the diagram I posted. It's been in every hub I've torn down.

Is #71 a ring clip? I have pulled 1 out...the one around the axle.

p/s their is a outer snap ring holding in that aluminum piece in,you can use a small screw driver or a pic to remove it

Sweet mother of Jesus...I found the outer snap ring. That thing was so camoflauged by 44 years of grease and dirt.

Yep, that's the one. Buried every time and likes to fight you for the right to peel it out of it's groove..
But hey, it's oooouuuuuuutt. So life is good again.
For a few minutes at least.
